Hi Jackie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

As a child, I battled chickenpox twice, leaving scars that made me self-conscious. Later, pregnancy brought stretch marks that only deepened my insecurities. I tried countless products, none worked, and many were overpriced. Seeing my sister struggle with eczema, I knew I had to create something safe, affordable, and effective. That’s when I took a leap of faith and began making products gentle enough for sensitive skin and pregnant women, yet powerful enough for everyone to feel confident in their own skin.

Jackie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m a proud mom of two girls, and my biggest hope is that they see the positive work I’ve done to bring relief and inspiration to others. By day, I work full-time in marketing to support my family and my business, and by night, I pour my creativity into building my brand.
Since I was young, I’ve known I wanted to work for myself. I’ve never been a traditional thinker, and my career reflects that. I spent over 10 years as a fashion designer before pivoting into marketing, where I discovered a love for creating digital art and bringing ideas to life, whether through visuals, storytelling, or strategy.
Naturally Unmarked is an extension of that passion. It’s my way of blending creativity with purpose, exploring my talents while helping others feel cared for and confident in their own skin. I truly believe that everyone has a purpose and a journey, and this is the one I was meant to take.

Naturally Unmarked is a body care brand dedicated to providing high-quality, natural products formulated for sensitive and problem-prone skin. Our mission is to simplify skincare by offering effective, all-in-one solutions free from harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances. Founded by Jacqueline Lee, a mother and entrepreneur, the brand was created to address common concerns such as stretch marks, scars, dark spots, acne, eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea. Each product is thoughtfully crafted using natural ingredients, carefully selected oils, to nourish, heal, and restore the skin’s natural softness and elasticity. Naturally Unmarked is proudly female- and Black-owned and remains committed to sustainability through small-batch production and the use of recyclable packaging to minimize environmental impact.

Naturally Unmarked is deeply rooted in community connection, wellness, and empowerment, especially for women and young girls. Our mission extends beyond skincare, we strive to build confidence, promote self-care, and educate underserved communities about natural wellness practices through both our products and community events.
In addition to creating plant-based body care products for sensitive and healing skin, we host and participate in events focused on women’s and girls’ empowerment, wellness, confidence-building, and self-care education. These experiences create safe spaces for connection, learning, and community engagement while encouraging healthy self-care habits at an early age.
One of our key initiatives is our ongoing partnership with Inspiring Women Today, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and young girls through mentorship and holistic development. For Women’s Health Month, we are collaborating to donate PMS Lemon Pound Cake Body Butter samples for inclusion in hygiene kits distributed to girls in local communities. This initiative helps normalize conversations around women’s health and self-care while introducing young girls to clean, nourishing skincare.
Beyond donating products, we are also involving a local businesses and spaces, including my own daughters, to help assemble events to promote healthy habits and wellness. This promotes volunteerism, leadership, and community bonding while giving young girls a hands-on opportunity to serve others.
Naturally Unmarked also regularly participates in local pop-up events, vendor markets, and wellness events, allowing us to connect directly with customers, support fellow small businesses, and educate the public on the benefits of eco-conscious skincare. Our Refill & Reuse program further supports sustainability by encouraging customers to return empty jars for discounted refills, helping reduce waste within our community.
We believe wellness should be accessible, relatable, empowering, and community-driven. Every product, event, and partnership reflects our commitment to making that belief a reality.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

One lesson I’ve had to unlearn is the idea that I have to do everything on my own. As women, we’re often taught that we must be strong all the time, that we have to be the perfect mom, business owner, wife, friend, and family member without ever showing weakness or asking for help.

Building Naturally Unmarked has taught me that true strength is knowing when to ask for support. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to build something on your own, but when things become overwhelming, it’s okay to lean on others. I’ve learned that the people who genuinely support your vision are willing to help you grow.

That mindset shift has changed both me and my business. It reminded me that community, collaboration, and support are just as important as hard work.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

The most effective strategy for growing Naturally Unmarked’s clientele is providing products that genuinely improve customers’ daily lives while remaining passionate, consistent, and reliable as a brand. When customers see the care and intention behind your products and experience real results, they are more likely to trust and support your business long-term. Building authentic connections and creating a welcoming experience also helps customers feel comfortable approaching and engaging with both you and the brand.
