We were lucky to catch up with Jackie Del Valle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jackie, appreciate you joining us today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
Where do I begin?
My name is Jackie and I am the owner and operator of Luminous Beauty Studio. I am a 2x Licensed Esthetician, Beauty Educator, Business Coach and Mentor who specializes in Body Sculpting and Advanced Esthetics trainings.
I created Luminous Beauty Studio in 2018 where it became a haven for beauty enhancement treatments. After devoting my time and money into continuing education courses, I mastered my beauty trades and created an education space for other beauty professionals in everything body and beauty related services.
Four locations, two different states and years of being in the treatment room, I decided to make Luminous Beauty Studio education and mentoring space for those who’d like to scale their businesses into 6+ figure businesses using proven techniques that worked for me.
I have successfully trained over 1000+ beauty professionals all over the United States both in person and virtually. I absolutely love what I do and really enjoy showing others how to master the art of beauty.

Jackie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Prior to Luminous Beauty Studio, I owned an eyelash strip company and absolutely loved everything beauty. Ever since I was in grade school, I always knew I wanted to be an Entrepreneur. Before coming an Esthetician, I spent years in the service industry. I remember working Downtown Orlando as a bottle server and thinking something has got to give.
I then decided to get my certification in Microblading and obtain my tattoo license. I eventually enrolled in beauty school and obtained my full specialist license (licensed esthetician and nail tech). I would go to school during the day and do my homework at work. Needless to say, I was determined to make something of myself.
Upon graduating and obtaining my state license, I continued to work nightlife and slowly manifested my business. I eventually opened up my first salon suite and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I slowly began to build client and then COVID-19 hit. At this point, I thought this is the perfect time to expand. Go big or go home right?
I then signed my second lease in my 5 room salon and rented each one out to other licensed professionals. I began teaching part time while still taking clients. At this time, I decided to get my Esthetician license in New York and began commuting between two states. The rest is history from there.
My greatest advice is to always follow your dream! You’re only limit is your mind and there’s not anything in this world you can’t have as long as you believe and put the work in!

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
The idea of self made plays a big part in me and my business. I started Luminous Beauty Studio with $550. This was the down payment for the first two weeks of my studio salon. I always knew I’d own a beauty business so prior to securing my first business location, every holiday and birthday before that, I’d ask for things that I would need for my grand opening.
During this time, I was still working nightlife which would fund my salon suite’s expenses. My business took off and I finally had a long list of clients. Once COVID-19 hit, I pulled out of lease and signed my next location. This was a 5 room salon where I would rent out each additional room to other licensed professionals. The income I generated with clients and students, aside from business expenses, became profit.
Everyone’s story is different. You don’t need a large capital to start a business. Start with what you have even if that means working a 9-5 to fund your dream. Your only limit is your mind. You can have and become anything you want to be. Stay focused.
How did you build your audience on social media?
One of the things that helped me build audience on social media was by setting myself apart from everyone else. I perfected my craft, chose my niche and stuck with it. Your reputation is everything in this industry. Ethics is also extremely important to me and my business. Stay transparent, stay ethical and true to your brand and the rest will follow.
Speak to your ideal client. Posting infographics and informative info is going to gravitate followers, clients and students. Show your personal life on there too. People want to see the face behind the company, especially being a small business. Before and after pictures a must! I can’t stress this enough. If you are promoting yourself, show your followers what you can offer them. The best way to show them is by expressing your craft.
How you carry yourself in and outside of your business plays a humongous part in your reputation. Show up as the person you want to be every single day regardless of what’s happening around you and eventually you become them.
