A Client Success Story:
After living in a penthouse in Chicago the client wanted an outdoor/ indoor lifestyle, with an abundance of natural light and a chic yet casual design aesthetic. By using a soft color palette and lots of white we achieved a fresh, sophisticated home. We added interior architectural details to create character which resulted in a chic timeless home.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with the wife, who gave us direction but very few limitations. The client and I connected immediately which made the process even more enjoyable. She had exquisite taste and desired a certain level of custom finishes throughout, from marble floorings to custom wall coverings, custom beddings, furniture from various vendors and showrooms. With the addition of exclusive area rugs and their superlative art pieces the home unfolded into their vision ‘come true.’
Who is your hero and what have you learned from them?
My mentor, Steve McDowell, retired designer, encouraged and supported me to become an interior designer. He was known in South Florida for his contemporary clean lines and flawless design projects, consistently on budget. He often joined forces with architects who were also inspired to bring a current style to Palm Beach and South Florida emancipated.
He taught me to be confident and to explore new ideas. At a time when many homes were traditionally boxed-shaped, we emancipated the spaces to create ‘open plans.’ The free-flowing homes were perfect for casual or formal living and entertaining.
