After years in the wedding photography and videography industry, I had the privilege of working with incredibly talented creatives and made it a priority to stay connected. Over time, I saw a gap in the market—couples with modest budgets often struggled to find high-quality wedding photography and videography. I wanted to change that because everyone deserves to have their wedding day beautifully captured.

With that vision, I founded Blue Belle Weddings, bringing together a team of skilled artists to offer cinematic storytelling at an accessible price point. A key turning point was partnering with Andrew Shokhan, a highly respected editing expert, whose expertise helped refine our post-production and marketing workflow. Part of his team included the talented Tanya Shpihel, a superb editor and an all-around great person, whose creativity and dedication have been invaluable.

From there, we focused on creating a seamless client experience, streamlining our processes, and expanding our reach across California. Today, Blue Belle Weddings continues to grow, capturing love stories with passion, creativity, and a commitment to making wedding films and photography accessible to all.

One of the biggest tests of resilience came in the early days of Blue Belle Weddings, when I was balancing the challenges of launching a business while maintaining high creative standards. As with any small business, there were moments of uncertainty—projects fell through, logistics didn’t go as planned, and the unpredictability of the industry was overwhelming. But instead of letting setbacks slow us down, we pushed forward, refining our systems and learning from every challenge.

A defining moment was when we began expanding across California. Scaling a business came with obstacles—building a reliable team, streamlining workflows, and ensuring consistency. By leaning into the network of talented creatives I had built over the years, including the incredible Andrew Shokhan, we overcame those hurdles and took Blue Belle Weddings to new heights.

Looking back, resilience wasn’t just about overcoming challenges—it was about embracing them as opportunities to grow. Passion fuels you, but tenacity sustains you. Keep going, keep learning, and never lose sight of why you started.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.

I met Andrew Shokhan while working for a big-box photo and video company, and from the start, we connected over our shared passion for photography, videography, and delivering an exceptional client experience. We both had a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a deep commitment to customer service, so working together felt effortless.

As we continued collaborating, it became clear that we had similar creative visions and business values, making us natural partners. Unfortunately, the company we worked for ultimately failed, but rather than seeing it as a setback, we took it as a learning experience. We absorbed everything that worked well and, just as importantly, learned what not to do when running a business.

When we decided to build something of our own, we knew we wanted to create a company that prioritized both artistry and an outstanding client experience. That’s how Blue Belle Weddings was born—taking all the best parts of our experiences and creating a brand that truly puts couples first while delivering beautiful, cinematic storytelling.
