Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jack Rasmussen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jack, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I am glad I finished school and received my degree because that allows me to enter business or try to be a part of multiple companies. Being educated is excellent and offers many opportunities, creative or not. Delving into writing has been a great start for me, and I hope to do more. I started at the right time.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Fulbright Scholar and an alumnus of the University of Southern California. I taught English in Taiwan for a year and returned to California in the summer of 2023 to publish my second non-fiction work after 2022’s Fine Dining. I enjoy capturing the livelihood and intricacies hidden within life’s many daily characteristics.
Yin Yang: The Elusive Symbol That Explains the World focuses on the yin-yang symbol’s prominence in cultures worldwide and its immersive history. Religious leaders, meditation guides, award-winning authors, psychedelic therapists, and business executives provide in-depth conversations about the vital importance of healthy duality within our lives and how to bring mindfulness, spirituality, and harmony into effective leadership. I draw on the most proven ideas from psychology and religion to piece together a guide to understanding the beauty of the yin-yang symbol and how it relates to us all. To be human is not just to be aware of the duality within and around oneself but to embrace it, accept it, and use it to reach the ultimate version of yourself.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Watching the strikes this summer was interesting and critical. Artists and creatives deserve to make a living wage as their jobs are as important as anyone else’s. In the education system, there should be areas for artists to explore their creativity and hone their craft. Creativity should be encouraged in the classroom. I also do not believe in banning books that are essential to history. Viewpoints that shed light on important topics should be kept visible.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The very first step to learning is often unlearning. Sometimes, people around you force you to do things you do not want to or put you in a box that hinders your development. Follow your gut and do something that feels right to you. Also, take opinions from others with a grain of salt. Everyone has one, and not everyone’s will be positive. Your most significant competitor should be yourself.
