We recently connected with Jack Brangan and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jack, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
The “American Christmas Flag” is 100% unique and a wholly original American creation. Unique in its originality, no such Christmas decoration has ever existed. Even though there are American flags, college flags, and patriotic Christmas decorations, none match our original creation. Our holiday design is the only Christmas decoration showing American pride while maintaining the dignity of the Christmas holiday.
The design of our flag dates back to 1980. (The story in a bit more detail is on the next screen.) It was designed as an outdoor Christmas decoration to say “Merry Christmas, America.” We also believe it serves as a visible expression of appreciation and admiration for all first responders, police officers, EMTs, firefighters, and service personnel during the holidays. It is a way to show your gratitude with a special outdoor Christmas decoration. Every American celebrating Christmas should display this flag as an outdoor decoration.
The American Christmas Flag stands out because of its design. The design contains historical references from America’s beginnings.
A traditional Christmas tree sits in the middle of the flag on a white background.
Above the tree, shaped in a semi-circle, are thirteen blue stars symbolizing our thirteen original colonies.
The flag’s border features fifty red and white stripes for every state in our Union.
Lastly, four white stars appear in each corner to symbolize our nation’s North, South, East, and West.
There is no other holiday decoration anywhere equivalent to The American Christmas Flag. We designed, copyrighted, and trademarked the “The American Christmas Flag” as a sign of celebrating Christmas in America and a show of gratitude for our service personnel. Everyone American who celebrates Christmas should hang this flag outside their home.
Altogether, this flag is unique and proudly American.

Jack, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The idea of the American Christmas Flag came to life in Wenonah, New Jersey, in 1980. It was created by Stewart DeHart and myself, Jack Brangan. We tried our best to market it, but it was a challenge in the “dark ages” before the computers and the internet. The flags were eventually stored away in boxes, garages and basements. As we changed states, got married, had kids, and put them through school, the flag slowly disappeared from memory, out of sight and out of mind. The only remnant of the American Christmas Flag was a desktop version that remained on bookshelves and moved around as we relocated. Even after decades, this tiny flag managed to defy being placed in storage or boxed up each time we moved. Instead, it stayed visible on shelves or bookcases, That is, until Christmas night 2019!
We had gathered for Christmas, and our grandchild found this small American Christmas Flag perched on a bookshelf. Eager for a parade, she picked it up and started marching around the den. When asked what it was, my daughter laughed and said it was one of Dad’s old American Christmas Flags! Her husband then thought they could possibly sell it.
The 2020 pandemic closed their food business and put all the staff out of work. So the idea came to us that we could revive The American Christmas Flag. Fortunately, this time, we have the internet and www.TheAmericanChristmasFlag.com to help us with that venture.
We are thankful for our granddaughter finding that little flag and starting her parade.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
I am retired from a large IT company. During my time there, I spent some time in India. Later when looking for a flag manufacturer, I found one in Bengaluru. This was to be the first resurrection of The American Christmas Flag since the 1980s! We took possession of the first order that was from India.
I run the business with my son-in-law Stephen. The question arose about whether it is right to make The American Christmas Flag in a country other than America! This was not only a critical philosophical or strategic question but also a significant financial one since manufacturing costs are much higher in the USA. Additionally, we were expanding the Christmas logo to indoor decor on pillows, blankets, ornaments and glassware. So, where to manufacture was now a more significant question! After MUCH debate and torturous discussion, we decided to be a Made in America company – 100%. So everything we sell is Made in the USA.
This is on our website and a statement about all our products…
WHERE IT’S MADE MATTERS …
“Made in America”
It’s not just a slogan …
Our gifts and decorations are crafted by American companies, American artists, and local family businesses from all over America. “Made in America” is a core value of American Christmas Products and the standard all of our products must meet.

How’d you meet your business partner?
We are a small family business.
My original co-founder in 1980 was my best friend growing up in Wenonah, NJ; we are still very good friends. My business partner is my son-in-law.
So we are a very tight-knit small business.
