We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jacinth Headlam a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jacinth, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to pursue the arts when I realized its power to empower, inspire, and heal people’s pain. Like I can actually use my artistic gifts to motivate the masses and to be a world changer. THAT’S POWERFUL. I don’t take that light at all. The ability to make a positive impact through artistic expression was the revelation I needed that sparked my love and passion for the arts on a deeper level.

Jacinth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Jacinth Headlam, and my journey through the world of arts and community empowerment has been an inspiring journey. I wear multiple hats as an actor, author, and film producer, and I’ve been fortunate to receive awards for my contributions to the arts.
However, my mission extends beyond personal accolades. I’m all about helping others turn their dreams into reality and finding purpose, especially in the face of adversity. That’s why I founded the InnaStar Organization, which is dedicated to empowering youth from marginalized communities.
Through mentorship, filmmaking programs, self-development workshops, educational initiatives, and wellness support, we instill confidence and resilience in our student’s young minds, helping them overcome obstacles and to chase their dreams. One highlight is our annual InnaStar Trailblazer Awards, which celebrate those who’ve made significant contributions to the art community, amplifying & honoring their voices and achievements.
I’m honored to have received recognition from the City of Allentown, proclaiming February 23rd as “Jacinth Appreciation Day” in appreciation of my community service efforts. As a devoted mother, my passion for crafting a brighter future extends to my own children and young people /future generation of creative worldwide. I spread my message through travel and the arts, raising awareness about the InnaStar Movement. So far we have InnaStar movement in US, Nigeria, Cayman Islands and will be extending to Jamaica and Kenya in 2024.
I’m most proud of the impact we’ve had on young lives, instilling belief in their potential and helping them surmount challenges. What sets me apart is this unwavering commitment to the arts and my drive to empower others, especially those who may not have had the same opportunities.
I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know that my work isn’t just about artistic expression; it’s about making a positive change in the world, one young mind at a time.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
In term of resources, I would say to think of your journey like a recipe for success. Find mentors who’ve been there before (they’re like your secret ingredients), take courses, and connect with others in your field. Read to be knowledgeable of the business, attend events to expand your network because this business is all about relationships. Also, use online tools to help you on your path. I learn a lot from YouTube university. But most importantly, trust that it’s never too late to start, and your journey is uniquely yours. Enjoy the process and keep learning and growing!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
During my early days as an actress, I faced numerous auditions that ended in rejection. Getting countless no’s is the toughest part of my career. There was a time when I auditioned for many roles, but the roles just weren’t for me. I believe in divine timing and having patience. It could have been disheartening, but I persevered, continued to refine my craft, and worked on improving my skills while expanding my network. I eventually starting booking multiple commercials and leading roles that opened doors to more significant opportunities. Like me working on Live television on QVC network (home shopping). This experience taught me that resilience and a strong belief in my abilities can lead to success, even in the face of repeated setbacks. So we just have to trust the process and the journey. Knowing that despite the ups and downs, to never give up because it’s all apart of your story.
