We recently connected with Jacie Rowe and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jacie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I started in politics at the tender age of 21, right after graduating from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science, and minor in Pan-African Studies. I always wanted to influence the world, and believed politics was one of the strongest avenues to make real change. In creating my first consulting firm with a college buddy of mine Perry Green, we began solidifying contracts around Louisville for candidates running for Mayor, District Judge, and City Council. 10 years and 37 campaigns later, including contracts with Tom Steyer for President in 2020, and helping Pamela Price win Alameda County District Attorney, I decided to shift gears and focus my energy on a new way of influencing people.
While politics was very joyful to me (not so much my hairline), my conversations were always limited based on party affiliation, region, or talking points. I wanted my spirit to be free to engage the world without the constraints of the political field, and for people to learn all about how the sausage is getting made. The analysis of our humanity, from all of its beautiful perspectives, can never be truly valued or expound properly as long as the voices are controlled by finances and told what to do and say.
In comedy, simply put, everyone listens; even people who think totally different will perk their ears to understand your perspective. That is a gift the world gives to comedians, and I wanted to share my gifts and experiences with the world.
Phase II in the Life of Jacie Rowe IV, figuring out how to develop and manage a Comedy Production Company in a similar fashion as Keenan Ivory Wayans and Damon Wayans.
I’m building the comedy garden right now, even as this interview is being read, I’m probably out on Hollywood and Highland Blvd with a team of comedians working our craft. It’s a daily grind. We perform on the street, then hit 2-3 shows each night. Being funny isn’t the end. The business of comedy is just as tedious and hard-working as the business of politics. It takes resources to organize shows, find the best talent, market your talent in a real way, not simply through social media post. I’m a millennial, so I’m a little bit of old school, and new school at the same time. I use social media, but I will always believe in the personal connection of humans seeing humans eye to eye, and sharing vibrations with one another in person. That is the most precious gift of comedy, and I’m honored to be one of its members sharing this gift with the world.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m originally from Detroit, Michigan, born to my mother Jacqueline Lavon Talley Rowe, and Jacie Colie Rowe III. My mother was a pregnant as a teenager, and my father joined the military immediately to provide safety and security. My life has operated from, let’s just say a different perspective from the beginning. Being a military child, so call brat, has provided me with certain securities and confidence that a lot of young people do not have the opportunity to experience. My schools had no majority race, they were well mixed with white kids, black kids, asian kids, and latinos. We all played together, learned together, fought together, and grew up together. At the same time, my dad privileged me to “Summer in Detroit”, where I learned of my parents and my culture first hand from experiences one can only have in Detroit. See my stand up videos on youtube to hear some of the wild and crazy kids stories we experienced.
In College, I was privileged to travel the world again, first with my father in the military, and now through Semester at Sea, an incredible college study abroad program where I studied International Government and Policy. I like to say, I lived in or visited more than a dozen countries in my life, on every continent, but the cold one, and South America.
In Comedy, I pull from each and everyone of these experiences to tell my story and share joy with the world. I believe that’s a great gift unto itself, the ability to share joy. My comedy is all about joy, and bringing smiles and laughter. It’s Fresh, It’s old, It’s Jazzy, which is where the Jazzy Comedy Show brand derived. How the audience and I get there, is a journey unto itself. I’d love for people to check me out and look for my Comedy Special to learn a little more about this Detroit Military Brat who retired from political campaign work to tell a greater story of joy and overcoming.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’ve always been a comedian, but my mother raised me with Black’s Law Dictionary. Most people don’t know why that matters, but it’s the legal english language in which all U.S. Citizens are governed by. My mother raised me to be a governor. She taught me how to understand laws, process of making a law, and ability to influence laws at will.
Subsequently, I worked on more than two dozen campaigns and helped pass laws in 5 different states. I lost lots of hair, use to have a beautiful afro, and now I look more like the rapper Common. Running campaigns in the South is very different from running campaigns on the West Coast. The South considers young black men charging forward to change the political landscape a threat, and just as the “Freedom Riders” of the 1960’s were harassed and terrorized for standing up for right. I have experienced my own tribulation period with the police targeting me as a politico.
One election night in 2012, as I was closing down the Democratic HQ in Louisville, Kentucky after supporting Congressman John Yarmuth (D-3), and a team of young democrats running with him, Louisville Metro PD pulled up to me not even 30 seconds after getting in my car. I had just closed the office, and it was like they were outside waiting for me. I was pulled over immediately, searched, smacked down head on the car, and arrested.
The arrest was bogus, and 5 hours later I was released with no charges, but it was a point trying to be proven by the powers that be. The lesson they were pushing, was for me to shut up, mind my business, and don’t influence the power structure.
I ran more than 10 more campaigns after that night all over the country electing people to school boards, city councils, state senate, and judicial seats. More importantly, I remembered that the joy I carry is what keeps me in rooms, able to influence, and create partnerships seemingly out of thin air.
I decided to use my gifts differently. No longer would I work to elect individuals, but work to influence the world with love, and show the grace of God through joyful interactions.
Human connection has never been more broken, and in need of some medical healing. Laughter is the medicine that can heal and bring us together. I chose to laugh through my many broken experiences, and put them together in masterful way that creates a whole new picture.
Our lives our destiny in a bottle, even with the bottle broken, your destiny is yours, and sometimes will be delivered in a vehicle or mechanism you did not originally expect, however, its all good and for you. This is the lesson I’ve received, and gracefully walking in my purpose.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Cannabis companies are the new tech boom. They are cool, and everyone wants to be a part of the cool kids. I’ve talked to boutique cannabis lawyers, cannabis distributors, producers, and Wall Street executives, all who are ready for 100 year engagement of the cannabis industry on the world in a legal, fun, and fulfilling way. I want my media & production company to be a main entity for cannabis providers. We want to include their merchandise in our Street Comedy Performances, shows we produce DTLA and in Southern California. We want to publish them in our videos, short films, and movies. We are ready to show the world comedy and laughter with partnerships that help bring peace to folks minds.
We are actively searching for Cannabis Sponsors to work with and offer a wonderful package for $20,000 that will increase any companies bottom line and level of influence.
