We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jaci Marie Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jaci Marie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
By normal societal rules, I took a risk resigning from my full time job in the hospital which was my first job out of nursing school. I was a person who used to play by the societal rules. Which usually sounds like this… go to college, decide on a career, settle down, have kids, retire, The End. So I did, I received four college degrees, had the 6 figure career, bought a house 2 years after college, settled down and had a baby. Ten years into my career, I was thinking “what’s next, this can’t be it, there must be more”. Well the more was, ride this out until you retire at 70 years old and that did NOT sit well in my spirit at all but I didn’t know what to do. So I went on my own health and fitness journey thinking it would give me a new perspective and it fully evolved into me accomplishing and winning 2 body building competitions and completely shifting my mindset and understanding of true health. With my new found knowledge, understanding and perspective on health, the traditional allopathic model of healthcare was no longer in alignment with me and I had to leave. It is interesting thinking back, as I believed that organization was where I was going to be for the entirety of my career climbing the nursing ladder. Yet, leaving was one of the best decisions I could have ever made at that time. Trusting myself to make a decision that was best for me, regardless of the societal rules or perceived “risk”.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As mentioned previously, I started from my own journey into fitness and nutrition that led me to pivot into a more holistic approach to healthcare. The transition was easy in that I was able to role model the way through my own lifestyle. I started coaching initially around fitness and nutrition however I easily realized that the mindset work was what was really required to make a lifelong healthy lifestyle change. So my coaching shifted into mindset and intentional manifestation, and that is where I noticed more clients receiving better and faster results in their overall lives. In addition to my own private clients, I had the honor to work in Brendan Burchard’s organization as a high performance coach, supporting clients all over the world. Most recently I have expanded my services to include IV vitamin infusions/injections as well as coaching and corporate wellness. Elite Nurse Concierge truly embodies a holistic approach with assessing mind, body, and spirt with each client.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
No, the path I chose led me here today. My passion, purpose and calling in this lifetime is to help humanity. My goal is to empower others to empower themselves. Becoming a registered nurse set me up foundationally to do just that. Initially I didn’t see it that way and felt limited. However when I shifted my mindset and perspective I realized that there is not just one way to help and empower others. I am so grateful that I did shift because I am now able to help so many more people in so many more ways.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Trust and belief in yourself. Every individual has all the answers within themselves, yet we are told that validation from others and external opinions from others is more important. No, validation, trust and belief in yourself is what is most important and will support succeeding in any field.
