We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jabetha Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jabetha below.
Jabetha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my business is Lynn in London Boutique. Lynn is my late mothers middle name which is what i called her when we would crack jokes on each other and London is my alter ego name as a teenager when i was living a double life in another state. I was in the closet for a very long time and living in NJ where everyone new who my parents were i lived my authentic life in NY where i could actually live how i wanted and with whom i wanted. And when my mother was suddenly killed in 2012 i had to include her in my business because i realized her spirit was still inside of me as well as walking beside me

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
What sets Lynn in London apart from other brands is we create a safe and colorful experience while creating custom garments for our clients. We celebrate all body types, we encourage pride in appearance with our pieces and keep in communication through out the entire process of making the pieces with our clients. Our number one priority is to make you feel seen, confident and love always bc in this cruel world especially with social media, bullying and tearing down people has become a sport for people. Lynn in London will always build you up when you feel the world is tearing you down.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I am a one woman show, i am design dept, the accountant, customer service rep and the media relations dept. Who is also a military wife of a woman who has done three tours, a mother of a teenager who has traveled to different countries while attending different schools every 2-3 yrs. I never been able to afford to break down or not be the foundation my family needs as well as being the foundation each one of my clients need while they are communicating and commissioning anything from me. My business is Me. The mother, the wife, the resilient one. the business owner.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson i had to unlearn in this business was nothing should be taken personal. Everything is business and never personal. But when passion has driven your life through all things good and horrible, those passions seep through the mistakes or disappointments you may have caused, and it can take a huge toll on anyone who truly love what they do. Especially someone in business who isn’t driven by the money but the love and smiles they receive from making someone feel love and seen in something u created with ur vision. Its a feeling that can not be described or bought.
