We caught up with the brilliant and insightful BOX TRUCK SHAWTY aka JABBAR WILLIAMS a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
JABBAR, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
No, I wouldn’t have wished to have started my logistics business sooner or later. I’ve come to appreciate that timing in life is everything. My entire life leading up to the point of launching my logistics business has played a part into my success and the impact I’ve been able to see within a 2-year time span.
I started my logistics journey in January of 2021 starting out with only one rental truck and one driver. At this time in my life, I was working in the Finance Industry for 16 years and feeling like I wanted more out of life. In addition, I had ventured into flipping and wholesaling houses in the surrounding Atlanta area. I was successful at it and developed a deep passion for it. Then the pandemic hit which shifted the entire real estate industry. The cost to acquire properties and the materials to build were at an all-time high which slowed things down. Around that same time, I went through a divorce that financially drained me and I found myself having to start my life over again from scratch. Then a friend introduced me to Amazon Relay and renting trucks in January 2021. My life changed in my first 19 months of business as I was able to gross over a $1million in revenue without physically driving and strictly utilizing rental trucks.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jabbar Williams. I was born in Queens, New York and raised in South Carolina. In 1996, I relocated to Atlanta, Ga to attend Clark Atlanta University. In January 2021, I had a friend who introduced me to the Amazon Relay program going the rental route without having to physically drive a truck. With no prior knowledge nor experience in logistics or driving a truck, I jumped into the logistics industry and perfected a plan that allowed me to scale and gross my business to making over $1 million dollars within my first 19 months in the industry.
I offer a variety of services that are catered to assisting people getting started into logistics and to assist current drivers to transition out of the truck. This is how my consultation and mentorship side of the business called Box Truck Shawty got started.
When I entered the industry, it was commonly said that the only way to enter logistics was by purchasing and financing a box truck. This is where Box Truck Shawty came into play. I wanted to provide information and training in reference to the utilization of rental trucks and assisting others to get started with Amazon Relay for under $5,000 dollars. My system allows people to enter the logistics industry who don’t have the credit or finance to purchase a truck. There are so many people whose business failed due to not having finances to keep up with the costly maintenance on their purchased truck. Therefore, I have helped and instructed thousands of people on how to get started going the rental truck route and start their own logistics business using Amazon Relay without having to drive a truck.
Box Truck Shawty got its start on Instagram, @boxtruckshawty. I used that platform to show my logistics journey working with Amazon Relay and using a rental truck without physically driving. I begin to expand my content by showing people the advantages of going the box truck rental route, booking loads with Amazon Relay, and providing daily motivational tips with the goal of encouraging people to take a leap into entrepreneurship through logistics. I established and expanded out to other social media platforms under the @boxtruckshawty handle on YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok where I provide insight on how to get into the logistics and offering my services such as 30-min & 60-minute consultations, virtual 5 week Mentorship Masterclass, 2-day on site Amazon Facility training and 3 -day driver training for Amazon and my eBooks, The Starter Pack, Rookie Playbook, and The Bundle Pack (which is a combo ebook of both the Starter Pack step by step and the Rookie playbook ebooks), The Road to Dispatching, and The Ultimate Bundle Pack (which is a combination of the Starter Pack Step-by-Stp, the Amazon Rookie playbook, AND The Road to Dispatching). My ebooks provide everything you need from setting up your logistics company, getting your Authority, discount rental rates, insurance, gas card, getting accepted with Amazon Relay, finding drivers, and scaling your business just to name a few.
It was common practice when starting a logistics company that you had to have tens and thousands of dollars and/or credit in order to purchase or lease a truck. However, my system doesn’t require a lot of capital and no credit to get started. Using my rental system, which can be found in my Ultimate Bundle Pack eBook (https://linktr.ee/

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As stated in the prior questions, I started logistics in January 2021. Prior to this, I was working in the Finance industry for 16 years and started to get into the real estate flipping/wholesale business in the surrounding Atlanta Georgia area. As we know, the pandemic hit which affected many industries including real estate. The prices for materials and acquiring off market houses had drastically increased which slowed down the flipping and wholesale business. So when the logistics idea was presented to me in 2021, it was a great way to pivot out of not only my 9-5 job but from the real estate business. Like I tell my clients, who I call Boxheads, the logistics industry is a recession proof business. Regardless of what is going on in the world, the logistics industry continues to keep moving around the world. Everything we have in our homes from food to electronics all came from a ship, airplane, and/or truck. It is definitely proven to be a good, passive income generating business to establish.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation grew within my market because I was one of the first ones to talk about entering logistics going the rental route without physically having to drive a truck. I debunked the idea of having to purchase a truck to enter the logistics game. People followed me on my journey on social media starting out with just 1 rental box truck and 1 driver to scaling up to 8 rental trucks and grossing over $1 million in 19 months with no prior experience or knowledge. This made it realistic for anyone to be able to do it. I have had countless success stories of how my clients (referred to as Boxheads) have found success following my plan. I actually provide proof of my success and use instagram to show my gradual climb to the top.
In addition, my pricing for my products are more affordable in comparison to many that offer similar educational and training services. This has drawn many from those trying to reform out of prison and street life to those who are wanting to start their own business for the first time.
