We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jabari Dobson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jabari below.
Jabari, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
Jabari Dobson serves as the president and a founding member of Healthcare Finders. Jabari currently is a private practice psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and has a vast amount of experience in healthcare dating back to high school when he first became a CNA. Jabari’s passion for healthcare and education sparked the idea of creating a conglomerate of healthcare which led to the collaborative creation of Healthcare Finders. The organization serves to provide quality healthcare including staffing, home health and education. Jabari’s mission is to provide a hub for all aspects of health care and inspire others to achieve their greatest. The challenges with this business was exciting in finding the nice market and introduction. Healthcare requires passion and purpose and both must be found before starting a business. My greatest advice would be to find your purpose to ignite your passion and turn it into your business.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Jabari serves as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner along with being part owner of Healthcare Finders llc. The idea of Healthcare Finders is to help patients who are most in need enjoy the comforts of their homes while promoting autonomy and quality care. Healthcare Finders also provides jobs travel and permanent to promote the idea that healthcare professionals of all disciplines have the power to find their dream job and we assist. We also believe in providing training to help stay a breast and provide great care. We also provide merch and fashion for those who like stylish clothing and accessories. What we pride ourselves in is the ability to incorporate so many aspects into one entity.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Do what you honestly like. Many times I was able to perform tasks but would feel so burnt out because I didn’t like what I was doing. I found that I discovered my passion when I truly enjoyed going to work and didn’t feel a sense of dread. No amount of money or benefits will negate something you truly dislike. Ideally you can’t always do what you like initially but use your resources to create a plan for what you like and execute.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My greatest time of resilience was when starting my practice Tranquility Telepsychiatry. I started initially while transitioning from my role and I hadn’t worked in 4 months upon starting. I took my savings to fund startup cost and had got down to the wire financially to survive and fund everything. When getting approved for my first insurance I started taking on patients in the interim only to find out I could not get reimbursed after working nearly 3 months with no pay. In the moment of despair is when I knew beyond survival that I couldn’t quit. I knew that my hope and God was all I had to depend on and I did. Despite how we may not always see the light hope and perseverance is what will make our vision clear.
