We caught up with the brilliant and insightful J-SMOOL DA BOSS a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, J-SMOOL thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

At first I did not think about being a business owner, until one day my friend kept bringing up the idea of being a business owner and to use my multi-talent and gifts toward starting my own my own business . I also had went to a pop-up shop event an watch how every business owners selling their service or products to customers and said I can do the same thing that they are doing. So immediately an idea can in my mind to start selling products for male and female customers. I had went and did my research of finding out how to own and operate my own business. Then I start creating my businesses website and social media accounts for my businesses Then I went and order my equipment and tools, and products for my businesses .I also start promoting my products online and in person at Popup shop events putting my brand out there. So now I am a business owner of three businesses: T-Shirts by J-Smool, Handbags by J-Smool, and Photography by J-Smool Da Boss.

J-SMOOL, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Jerry Roberts I go by my music, career, and business name: J-SMOOL DA BOSS. I am music artist that has several albums out already including two new albums along with a new single comin out soon. You can find me on google, facebook instagram, twitter, twitch, and TikTok as J-SMOOL DA BOSS . I got into the music industry because I write and produce my own music and I pay for all my music promotion I have my own personal studio that I own. I had my own record label J-SMOOL DA BOSS I sign myself. because I’m a independent recording artist I’m not in the music industry. I am a business owner that sells fashion handbags for women, customized t shirts for women. men. girls, boys , customized crocs for women men. girls, boys. I also take professional photography photos for my customers. What set me apart from others is that I am a Christian that is saved, baptized and is a Man of God. I keep God first in all that I do he is my everything with you him I am nothing he is the reason I have everything I have today. I am the most proud of myself for accomplishments I had made in my life such as dropping new music, my businesses is booming and growing, being a content creator, a comedian etc. My brand J-Smool Da Boss represents me and myself and who I am it represents everything that I do so that people can know the person with the name, businesses and music. My brand is every where around the world nationwide. If people dont know who J-Smool Da Boss is they can easily search me on google as J-SMOOL DA BOSS and it will pulled up everything about me.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

I have always funded my business out of pocket with my own money. I had to save money to invest in my business to launch my business, buy equipment, tools, supplies and inventory for my business. Any money that I had i use it towards my business. It was not easy funding my business out of pocket but I managed to get it done. Then I also researched different business loan companies to get help with additional funding for my business and gotten approved for business loans.

How did you build your audience on social media?

How I built my audience on social media is by creating wonderful content for my audience and engage or interacted with my followers and fans. I follow anybody that follows me on social media and keep up with every content I post on my social media pages. I make content for people to enjoy and have a good laugh to keep them coming back for more content. I build my audience through making music, making comedy skits, and making my business tutorial videos for people to see and watch.
