We were lucky to catch up with J. Marshall recently and have shared our conversation below.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am a recording artist, Singing, rapping, songwriting, organizing, and studio management. I model, specializing in runway, and lifestyle, available to travel. I also produce live events and provide consulting services for creative projects through JMC.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

I spent my life thinking I was going to be a preacher, and realizing, and now I’m pursuing a career in entertainment. Literally two opposite ends of the spectrum, but it really is a full-circle moment because I tell my team the ultimate goal is to draw the attention of the masses to the eyes of the Lord, so I may not be in a pulpit on Sunday but I’m doing something that brings me peace and that’s the most important kind of work.

How did you build your audience on social media?

In the beginning we made it a mission to spend as little on paid ads as possible. This because monumental when we started combining the music with a live experience. We built an audience by connecting with people that were interested in what were doing, so when it’s time to put people in seats there is a real connection with our audience members.
