Today we’d like to introduce you to J. Lou.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My childhood involved constant moving around, different schools, different cities, different states. I got used to be the new person everywhere I went. Some people could become introverted because of this, but I managed to make friends everywhere I went. Maybe that was always my nature, but I figure you’re either gonna hate me or love me, so let me be me. Today I’m a performing artist who makes music and acts on stage and film.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing is ever as smooth as you want it to be. For me there has been a lot of distractions on my journey. But everything I went through gave me the perspective I have today. I think you’re suppose to struggle through life in order to achieve greatness. Because it’s in that struggle where you learn things about yourself and the skills necessary to prevail.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I started my creative journey as an actor on stage. That’s the only time I use my given name “Julian Masters”. The theater was the first time I did something that felt not real or possible for the people around me. But I was able to do it and eventually performed in short films and on off broadway stages. This gave me tremendous confidence to pursue other kinds of art I was interested in. Which is my music that I make now. Even as a small child I would like to sing and perform, but it wasn’t until I tackle the acting hurdle where I felt sure enough in myself to go for it. I’m proud of my accomplishments thus far, but I’m far from finished. I currently have a band and shows booked. I’m finishing up a new film I am acting in as well. I’m doing everything I set out to do. I wish everyone the courage to chase their dreams and make their reality the way they want it to be. If anything set me apart, it’s my stubbornness. I thrive on people not believing. It’s become a superpower. That chip on my shoulder gives me motivation. But it’s the passion that ultimately makes everything come to life.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
2025 I’m dropping my debut EP “Nice Guys Finish Last” which will soon be available on all streaming platforms.
