We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful J.B. Nearsy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with J.B. below.
J.B., thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
Art as a profession for me began when I left a full-time accounting position in 2015. I had been doing commissions, original art, and graffiti in most of my spare time prior to quitting the day job. Going back further, I began graffiti in 2001 upon moving to San Bernardino, CA for college. That same year, my first instinct and major declaration was fine art, and yes, I wish I had stuck to that.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m J.B. and I make semi-representational art that is at times abstract and at others full of imagery. I explore expression in an interdisciplinary fashion and work between mixed media painting, poetry, video, installation, audio, and many other avenues of fine art.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My highest aspiration is to provoke kindness and love through an appreciation of expressions created in a similar mindset. Most things I paint have positive connotations behind them and relate to seeing the world in thanks.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
People and communities that are open and accepting do the best at helping creatives to be and stay in their element.
