We were lucky to catch up with J. Andrea recently and have shared our conversation below.
J. , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
JA Living helps busy families create calm, functional homes by organizing spaces in a way that supports their unique lifestyle and well-being.
For several years, I worked closely with families in childcare, and it remains one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. Spending time with children and, especially, with mothers gave me a deep appreciation for the tireless, beautiful work parents do every day. They teach, guide, nurture, and love unconditionally, often without recognition. It was in those everyday moments that I discovered my true calling: helping families find clarity, peace, and balance through organization.
Those mothers inspired me more than they know. Their resilience, creativity, and commitment to their families planted the seed for what is now my professional organizing business. I carry their stories with me in every project. Each of them taught me something valuable, and without them, this work wouldn’t be possible.
Today, my mission is to teach busy families that through small, intentional changes, one step at a time, life can feel less overwhelming. With more order in the home, families can find more time to focus on what matters most: each other. In a world that moves fast and demands so much, I want to remind parents that the beauty of life is often found in the quiet, everyday moments we share with loved ones.
Ironically, I never imagined I would enjoy organizing. But I began to see how creating order brought clarity and calm to my own life. As someone who needs visual peace to stay focused, I found great comfort in organized spaces, and I wanted families to experience that same freedom. Especially for those juggling multiple roles, a well-organized home can be life-changing.
I also have a deep love for children. Their hugs, their laughter, those moments give me the strength and joy to keep doing what I do. Being a parent is one of life’s greatest blessings, but it also comes with immense responsibility and constant demands. That’s why I aim to create systems that make daily life just a bit easier, so families can spend less time managing clutter and more time making memories.
Today, I also have the privilege of working alongside incredible mothers, women who are passionate, hard-working, and understand firsthand what it means to juggle family and career. My vision is to continue partnering with women who value flexibility, love to serve, and want to build something meaningful while supporting their own families.
At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief: when your home feels lighter, your life does too.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Finding Purpose Through Service
The inspiration for JA Living came from the many mothers and families I had the privilege to work with for years in childcare. Their resilience, warmth, and dedication stirred something powerful in me, a desire to serve, grow, and find work that aligned with both my heart and strengths. In my journey to become a better version of myself, I tried different paths, faced fears, overcame setbacks, and ultimately followed the calling to start something of my own.
JA Living was born from that calling, an extension of the love I have for serving others and the support I received from so many families, mothers, and friends along the way. It combines everything I’ve learned from those experiences with my passion for bringing clarity and calm to homes through organization.
As a certified professional organizer, I specialize in functional organization tailored to the unique needs of busy families and professionals. Whether it’s a pantry reset, a home office overhaul, a full-home move-in unpacking service, or a quick organizational refresh, our goal is to help families find peace and order in their everyday routines. We focus on creating systems that make it easy to find what you need, stay in control of your space, and reduce stress by keeping your environment calm and clutter-free.
Over the years, I’ve been grateful to earn the trust of every client who has welcomed me into their home. That trust is not something I take lightly; it motivates me to continue learning and growing. Today, JA Living is proud to be part of “The Home Edit” community, founded by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, where we receive continuous training, support, and tools to deliver top-tier service.
One of my proudest personal accomplishments is building the discipline it takes to run a business rooted in care and excellence. Discipline didn’t come naturally to me; it’s something I’ve had to cultivate with persistence and heart. But more than anything, it’s the love I have for serving families that keeps me going. Helping others create peaceful homes is more than a job; it’s my purpose.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Progress Over Perfection: Building a Business in the Age of Social Media
I’ll be the first to admit—I’m not a social media expert. In fact, I’m very new to it. It’s something I’ve had to learn along the way because it doesn’t come naturally to me. I don’t have a huge following or polished content, but I’ve picked up valuable lessons from friends in marketing, from books, and from courses I’ve taken, like one by Margarita Pasos that reminded me of something powerful: progress, not perfection.
We often hold ourselves back with fear, information overload, and the pressure to “get it right.” But here’s what I’ve discovered: the best way to connect with your clients isn’t through perfection, it’s through authenticity. One of the most important things I’ve learned is this: just start.
There are countless strategies out there to grow your audience, but none of them matter if you don’t take the first step. Action is what brings clarity. I’ve met many people who know a lot but never take the leap. My advice is simple: do the work, even if it’s messy or imperfect.
As artist Michele Quan said in In the Company of Women, “Keep it simple and do the work.” That quote has stuck with me. You don’t need to be perfect to be impactful. Just be yourself, take consistent action, and keep learning along the way.
I’ve made mistakes, taken risks, and had plenty of less-than-perfect moments, but I’ve also seen growth, connection, and unexpected success by simply showing up as I am. That’s where the real magic begins.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes, I’ve drawn inspiration from several powerful sources. One that had a deep impact on me is In the Company of Women, a collection of stories from hundreds of female artists and entrepreneurs. Their journeys gave me the hope and motivation to one day create something meaningful myself.
In the world of organizing, The Home Edit introduced me to creative systems and strategies that help families stay organized, while The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo reminded me of the emotional connection we have with our belongings. The Clutter Connection by Cassandra Aarssen was especially eye-opening—it helped me understand that organizing isn’t one-size-fits-all. Each person has a unique style, and when we work with it (not against it), real transformation happens.
I also found value in Atomic Habits by James Clear, which showed me how small, consistent changes can lead to powerful results. And Emprende y Vuela by Natalia López, my friend and coach, gave me the mindset and practical tools I needed to start my own business. She encouraged me to believe in bold goals and to take action, even in small steps.
Professional programs like IAP Career College and NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals) continue to guide my growth as a business owner. And I’m constantly learning from successful parent entrepreneurs in my own community—people who balance work and family with grace and grit.
Each of these resources has played a part in shaping my journey and helping me build JA Living with intention, purpose, and heart.
