We were lucky to catch up with J.A. Lawrence recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi J.A. , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is to provide my readers with a wide variety of subjects that other travel websites may not offer, or who have a lack of information in a particular field. For example, we work with the leading resorts and provide our customers with all the latest vacation deals through our website or an email campaign.
J.A. , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
After working with a location travel agency’s website and social media, I soon discovered the power of an affiliate link which opened new doors for me to pursue an online company of my own. I genuinely thought that gone are the days of a travel agent, almost like an old newspaper being delivered to your house, in return for someone to have the ability to book online, whereas I would receive a commission from bookings that were made.
I try to provide pertinent information to my audience where I feel the rest of the web is lacking. If you do a search, you may find that there are not too many travel deal websites that list sales that are happening at the major resorts, of course, being all on one page for your convenience. That, right then and there makes us unique. We work with companies such as Sandals Resorts, The Marriott, Hilton, Iberostar, Atlantis, Palace Resorts and so many more.
What I am most proud of is finding a particular niche, as my company puts a focus on tropical travel. We also try to write articles about what other websites are not writing about. We provide extensive information on gay-friendly resorts, pet-friendly resorts, casinos, swim-up suites, adult-only escapes and clothing-optional destinations.
As far as discipline, it’s very hard to break away from the bump and grind of the daily workplace, as you cannot count on a regular income and perks, such as insurance, etc. Currently, I work on average, 8-10 hours per day/7 days a week from the luxury of my own home. I am driven to make a success of myself, and as a result, I truly believe I access a set of skills and talent that others may have, due to this dedication. I have the uppermost skills in travel writing and advertising content, as well as the ability to analyze the numbers from detailed reports that I produce.
Since then, I have an average of 100,000 monthly views to my website and a combined total of 150,000 social media followers. Of which, I plan to triple my audience by the end of the year with two new specific website to add growth and views.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When my partner lost a high-paying, long-term job position, I realized I could no longer work for individual clients, who brought on an unreliable income. This was a serious time to consider pivoting and then to decide that I can bring my ideas to life. The answer was yes by becoming an entrepreneur. Things started off with the business, awfully slow as you could imagine. But after about 5 very dedicated years, I really started to make a breakthrough with an increasing audience and an impressive income which came in as a result and consider myself a leader in what I am trying to bring.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
As much as you try to create brand loyalty, it can be tricky. Sometimes a reader visits your website for some information and leaves once they have obtained whatever they are looking for. The trick is, to make sure they subscribe to your email campaigns. Currently a pop-up comes up when you visit my website for the very first time. I feel this can only help your success, by having the ability now to send these campaigns to their email box. Social media can also play a major role, as dedicated followers can not only like, but share whatever post you may have published. You also may realize that some social media companies may not work for you, while others do. My success actually comes from Pinterest and Twitter where I have a vast audience who love what I have to post.
