Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Izabella Shaul. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Izabella , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My mom is my hero. She has always supported me and encouraged me to do my best even when my best isn’t my desired outcome. I have learned to never give up and to give myself grace. She has always supported my business. My mom was actually the one who introduced me to photography! She has modeled for me when I have an idea, helped me take self portraits, and always gives the best advice when I feel my photos or editing style isn’t turning out how I desired.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a 22 year old photographer based out of Indianapolis. I started taking photos in 2017 when my mom encouraged me to take photos of the Eiffel Tower while on our trip to Europe. Ever since then I’ve loved capturing moments and emotions and I hope that shows through my photography. I started out taking photos of random things to understand how my camera works and once I got a little more confidence I started taking photos of my friends. My first model was one of my best friends and they still model for me (shout out to Fisch!!). I started to grow my clientele by doing free photoshoots for my friends, family, and others who wanted to support my dream.
One thing that sets me apart from others is that I have an amazing support system of models and friends who always are down for whatever creative brief I need. Whether it’s zodiacs to Chappell Roan or even fairies in the woods they always allow me to push the boundaries and fulfill my creativity.
I am most proud of my Chappell Roan series. I love how my models and I made the songs and ideas come to life. My favorite photoshoot from that series is probably the “Femininomenon”. The line in the song goes “get it hot like papa John” and what better way to show that than with my favorite Drag Queen, Maddison Avenue, and a whole bunch of pink glitter?!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I have a unique ability to come up with new concepts and ideas. I love watching the vision in my head come to life.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My dream job is to be a photographer for a major magazine company such as Paper magazine, Rolling Stone, or even Vogue.
