We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Iza Montalvo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Iza below.
Hi Iza , thanks for joining us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?
Imagine you’re playing a game where you’re building your very own lemonade stand. You start off excited, buying lemons, sugar, and everything you need. You also have friends who say they’ll help you make and sell the lemonade. But as time goes on, you realize some friends aren’t as helpful as they promised. They might forget to show up, or maybe they’re not making the lemonade right. It’s like when you’re working on a group project in school, and not everyone does their part. It can be really frustrating, right? One day, you decide to enter a big lemonade competition, thinking all your friends will help you win. But then, on the big day, some of them don’t come. You feel stuck and sad because you trusted them. This is like when business owners trust people who don’t end up helping the business. It can feel like you’re left holding a bunch of lemons, literally. Here’s where the best part comes in. Instead of getting mad or giving up, you decide to squeeze those lemons into the best lemonade you’ve ever made. You learn from what went wrong, and make your lemonade stand better. Maybe you find new friends who really want to help, or you learn to do more things by yourself. You start to see that even though things didn’t go as planned, you’re learning a lot and becoming better at running your lemonade stand. In the end, you realize that the troubles you faced weren’t just about losing lemons or time; they were lessons that helped you grow. You learned to be careful about who you trust, but also that it’s okay to trust again. You found out that sometimes things don’t work out, not because you did something wrong, but because it’s just part of the game. So, the story of the lemonade stand is a lot like being an entrepreneur. Sometimes, you’ll face challenges and trust the wrong people, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end. Instead, it’s a chance to learn, grow, and make something even better. Just like making lemonade out of lemons, every problem can lead to something great.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

It’s like being the popular friend that everyone wants to hang out with because you get them.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2021, the pandemic made my business feel stuck. Traditional ways of meeting people just didn’t work anymore. I was close to giving up. Then, I realized something important: becoming a thought leader online is more than clicking “connect.” It’s how you find new ideas, stay current with what’s happening beyond your zip code, and help your brand grow far and wide.I started to really listen and share ideas, insights and stories. It was about being real and getting noticed. Following advice to give first before asking, my whole approach changed. This new way opened up big doors. I met amazing people, had life-changing experiences in France, and watched my business take off. Online friendships turned into chances I never imagined.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Humans connect with humans. That’s why on the AI era, being real is what makes you stand out. Share your struggles, how you transformed your life and business. Take people with you on your journey. Invite them into your behind the scenes. That’s how you build trust, credibility and a community online.
