We recently connected with Iyanna Dunn and have shared our conversation below.
Iyanna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
In my opinion, Social Media is so over saturated. The things that go viral other people copy and expect the same thing to happen to them. Thus creating replicas of the same thing getting millions of views! Where is the authenticity? I would much rather keep it while being myself and being rewarded handsomely later. I know this is not the most popular route in this era of instant gratification but I still believe in things like morals, integrity.
Iyanna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Absolutely! When I was a kid, I used to have my own Nick Jr. show called Abby friends. As a teen, I realized I did not like acting, but I’ve always been called to the spotlight. Not sure what I wanted to do in life I joined the military. After honorably serving, I made an Instagram page and started to adapt back into civilian life. It wasn’t until after I graduated college in 2020 that I began taking social media more seriously. And then the rest was history!
How did you build your audience on social media?
Get inspired! Don’t lose yourself for views! When I first took Social Media , seriously I looked at pages that were similar to what I wanted to do, and just made my own rendition until I found my voice if you will. Remember, stay inspired by those who inspire you, but don’t lose your authenticity for clout.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Inspiring others and uplifting others! It’s a really cool feeling when someone DM’s you and says because of your video I’m gonna try this restaurant or this vitamin or whatever, just because of a video you posted.
