We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ivotres Littles a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ivotres, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always been a creative person. It comes naturally. However, it often wasn’t accepted by some family members or in grade school. I was bullied constantly because I could draw better than some kids or I talked about my favorite movies. No matter how far I would run from my creative path; it seemed to pull my back in. It took awhile for me to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I wanted to work in the film industry, but I didn’t know what I wanted to do. So, I took a chance and started a blog; then moved on to visual media. Although the transition to visual media was exhausting, challenging and overwhelming, it was very rewarding. Overtime, I was able to focus my creative vision by structuring my brand ‘Horror Movies and Beyond’ to celebrate horror content creators and filmmakers from around the world through movie reviews and interviews .

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Creating horror movies and beyond took a lot of figuring out my strengths and weaknesses. In order to do that, I had to become vulnerable, self-disciplined and open-minded to accepting criticism from all people. Coming from a background of physical, mental and emotional abuse, it was quite anxiety inducing. Nevertheless, I pushed myself to understand my abilities and create an enthusiastic horror platform for horror fans, content creators and filmmakers. On occasion, I do horror movie reviews but I primarily focus on interviewing horror related filmmakers. My movie reviews are simplistic and informative. On the contrary, my interviews are a little more complex. My guests and I deep-dive into the meaning behind the story, characters and the overall tone of the film. It doesn’t matter if they are an indie creator or a horror icon, everyone is treated with the same level of compassion and respect when they’re a guest on my show.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to have my own ‘late night’ type horror talk show supported by a network who believes in my abilities and provide guidance while allowing me to have creative freedom.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Throughout my journey I’ve suffered tremendous heart-breaking moments. There were times I thought about quitting Horror Movies and Beyond. I felt I was never going to grow my platform enough to be financially stable. I wanted to live a better life and get out a terrible situation. After four years, I still struggling to grow my platform. However, I’ve learn some valuable information and life lessons. I’m optimistic it will pick up soon and proud of how far I’ve come.
