We were lucky to catch up with Ivey Higuera recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ivey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

The way I started my business was extremely spontaneous, It all stemmed from my creative expression. Knowing I had a passion for helping others, functional design, and aesthetically pleasing features. I came up with the idea of creating candles due to my deep pleasure and vision for energetic and ambient shifting. I had no experience in what I was doing, yet everyone seemed to be intrigued by my craft(s). After sharing my first hand made candle on Instagram, I immediately got an avid response to many trying to either obtain one of my creations or ask me how it came about. The journey that followed suit; consisted of trials and errors, risks, and careless expressions through personal/spiritual creativity. I learned to be unapologetic about being myself and living life to my own accord. Logistically, I am still figuring out many things but visionary wise; I am set on the lifestyle brand I am trying to bring to life daily.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

GLIVYN: “the art of giving and living” is the practice of putting your best effort forward and receiving more than you expect. It took me over a decade to accept myself and understand I can bring any vision to life. I believe in natural wellness and holistic practices that ease the pressure of societies expectations. Not only do we carry and create 1 of 1 holistic home products; but we also provide a lifestyle that encourages everyone to give gratitude to receive latitude.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I believe what helped me build my reputation in this market was my authenticity and passion for deep connectivity. I have always made sure to build genuine connections with people I interact with. My number one focus is assisting others life journey’s and amplifying the positive assets of who they are. People who really connect with me and my vision/perspective truly respect what I do and who I am, as I do it wholeheartedly.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

I was born into chaos, violence and turned it into health and beauty. I have endured much trauma and still withhold a progressive mindset. That is my biggest strength.
