We recently connected with Ivana Desancic and have shared our conversation below.
Ivana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The biggest mission of my photo-sessions is to create portraits that empower you and shape your confidence and goals. It doesn’t matter if you’re 8 or 80, every single person deserves to feel like a model or a movie star for a day. My team and I create a unique photoshoot experience that fit your needs and tastes.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ivana Desancic. I am a portrait and fine art photographer located in Asheville, NC. I realized I wanted to be a photographer when I got my first phone with a 2 megapixel camera, when I was 10 years old. As soon as I moved to United States from Bosnia and Herzegovina, I started working on my dream. Now I own a studio in Arden, I have been published and exhibited in Europe and USA, and I have won multiple awards on different photography competitions.
When you book a shoot with me, you’re booking someone that will create portraits you will be proud to hang on the walls of your home, and pass down to younger generations. You’re booking someone that is going to listen to you, your needs and insecurities. Someone that will make sure every single thing about the session is customized to you and your tastes, so the whole experience is exactly how you’ve imagined. Someone that will pose you and guide you through the whole process making sure you look, and most importantly, feel like the best version of yourself.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn my money-blocking behaviors. Coming from Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country with very little opportunities, I didn’t know how to value myself. At first, I would find ways to sabotage my own success due to many money blocks I had, but after taking some business classes and money-value classes, and after a lot of hard mental work, I overcame it. Now I know the value of my services, my work, and myself and I am building a life of love and abundance.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My biggest advice on growing your social media accounts is to be active as much as you can. Now, everything is about video content, so make sure you’re making a lot of reels, behind the scenes videos, tiktoks, etc. I would also join a lot of local FB groups where you can promote your work and link your pages.
