We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ivan Pulley. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ivan below.
Ivan , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I knew I wanted to do music professionally for the rest of my life was when I was 15.
I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida playing in the scene down there & ended up joining a Skynyrd Tribute Band.
It was during this time that we played with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer & original Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer, Artimus Pyle.
After performing with him 3 times, once at 15, twice at 16, I decided
“Why would I ever quit doing this??”

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the music industry at a fairly young age. Like I said, playing in the Skynyrd Band in Florida at 15-16 kept me busy & opened up some doors.
It wasn’t until later 2015 that I decided to form my own group, The Ivan Pulley Band.
I think what set me apart from my peers at the time was motivation & drive.
After years of playing the Jacksonville circuit, I found myself getting frustrated.
I found it hard to find other musicians with the same ferocity & dedication as I do.
As a performer I am most proud of being the individual to bring the best out of the players around me.
Being able to bring a smile to any of my fellow band mates while on stages is what really gets me off.
And when the crowd is on the same wavelength, it can be truly magical

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My particular goal & mission as an artist is to document my life & stories & project them in a way that people can relate to personally.
As a live performer one of my main goals/missions to get across is to inspire.
How can I inspire someone to pick up an instrument? How can I inspire others to do great things?
After leaving a show, I want the listeners to feel fulfilled, uplifted.. and inspired.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal that drives my journey is to be an accomplished songwriter, performer, arranger & producer.
