We were lucky to catch up with Ivan Nguyen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ivan, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Boss Tea was first opened in 2019 as a small business in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, our business sales kept growing. The customers loves our drinks so much that they find their way to support us. We always want to expand Boss Tea to different states so that the customers would enjoy our drinks. One day, a customer came to us and asked to open a franchise in Seattle, Washington. Seeing a good potential, We are quickly moving forward to approve the application and location. Their shop was first opened in 2021. The customer in Seattle are loving us so much even though there are many other bubble tea choices from other popular branch there. Since then, we have other franchisees opened their own shop in Texas, Colorado, and Kansas. Our brand starts getting recognition from customers across the U.S. It is hard for every business owners during the inflation period including Boss Tea, but we are trying our best to keep the price low and paying our employees the market rate. We know that as long as we serve our customer the best quality drinks, they will come back and support us. Boss Tea will keep moving forward with the loves of our customers. We always update our menu with unique new and seasonal drinks to keep our regular and attract more new customers.



As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was first came to the States from Vietnam in 2007. I went to the University of Connecticut and obtained my bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineer in 2015. I have passion about tea since he was a little kid. While traveling for work, I noticed that are not many good bubble tea in the States. I decided to open his own bubble tea shop called Boss Tea to offer the customers more choice. I continues to improve the drinks to best serve his customers around the States.



We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When we first opened, there are not many customers know about us. We started creating our Facebook and Instagram pages to interact with our customers so that they can message us for feedbacks and ideas. We run advertise of those platforms to reach more customer. Creating promotion and online games would be the best way to get people attention. Taking good pictures to represent the brand will be the first step to get new customer.


Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Best quality drinks and good customer services helped to build our reputation. When the customer spend money on something, they are expect to get good things. knowing that, Boss Tea keep updating our drinks and listen to customers feedbacks to know what to improve. Boss Tea is proud to bring the best quality and delightfully tasty drinks to our customers. At Boss Tea, our tea is not just a beverage; it is a cup of happiness.
