We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ivan Arrington a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ivan, appreciate you joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
TBH I HAVE A REGULAR JOB AS WELL AS MY MUSIC CAREER, I AM A FATHER AND HUSBAND SO BILLS HAVE TO BE PAID. I FEEL ALL ARTISTS SHOULD HAVE JOBS.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
WELL I ACTUALLY BEGAN MODELING FROM AGE 10-15 DOING ADS FOR PILLSBURY, SEARS, TARGET AND MORE. THAT LED TO ME FINDING MY LOVE FOR RAPPING AND CREATING MUSIC WHEN I WAS ABOUT 16. IVE BEEN SUBMITTED FOR GRAMMY NOMINATIONS, TOURED AMERICA, BEEN IN 3 TV SHOWS ON ABC, BEEN IN A MAJOR FILM WITH WOODY HARRELSON CALLED “WILSON” IN 2017. I AM A 38 YR OLD ARTIST THAT WOULDNT STOP DOING THIS IF I HAD TOO.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
YES TO REACH THE WORLD, I WANT TO BE ABLE TO HELP OTHER CREATIVES AND KIDS ALL OVER THE WORLD. MY PLAN IS TO OPEN A SHELTER FOR PEOPLE IN NEED. THAT DRIVES ME AND ALSO THAT IM SO PASSIONATE ABOUT MUSIC. I LOVE IT.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
CREATING SOMETHING FROM YOUR MIND AND MAKING IT REALITY!
