We recently connected with Iva Gancheva and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Iva thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
I am a Hot Yoga instructor and I have a great opportunity to connect to people at my yoga studio. I often share interesting concepts about neuroscience, the power of our subconscious mind, mindfulness, etc. and I weave and co-relate them to our yoga practice. This is how I got my 1st client and continue to find new ones simply by sharing and educating people about what I do and how I do it.
Iva , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Living with generalized anxiety has been a constant companion throughout my life, affecting my social interactions, sleep, heath and overall well-being from my early childhood. Some of the earliest memories, I recall are my mother’s invaluable guidance in teaching me meditation, visualization, and relaxation techniques. I owe my current state of well-being and my private practice to her, as she always shared enlightening articles and suggested insightful books that sparked my interest in self-improvement, psychology, neuroscience, and human behavior. In my pursuit of personal growth and in my efforts to make sense out of life’s intricacies, the only things that I found to hold real value, the knowledge I found truly interesting and fascinating where the tools and techniques that empowered me to enhance myself and find inner peace. Transitioning from a state of feeling lost, anxious, and confused, I have become a person who is confident, inspired, and fulfilled in both identity and purpose.
I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist, a Reiki Practitioner, a Breath Coach, a Yoga Instructor and I facilitate a modality called Kundalini Activation.
I understand that the only way out is through. There are multiple studies, research and books that support the idea that anxiety, fears, phobias, unresolved emotional trauma, negative beliefs and behavior patterns are all co-related in our subconscious mind, and when untreated ultimately lead to dis-ease.
I chose hypnotherapy because it works. I choose to work with the subconscious mind and energy healing, because I have 1st hand experienced, continue to witness and wholeheartedly believe in the immense power of the human psyche and the healing potential hidden in the subtle body. More than 200 years after its’ original development, research in neuroscience is now confirming the transformative power of hypnosis as an effective treatment, causing real, measurable, and lasting changes in the body and the brain. I combine the use of energy therapies as healing techniques to treat the mind, body, and spirit.
I specialize in Hypnosis for Trauma Recovery, PTSD, Fears & Phobias, Immune Disorders, Pain Management, Stress and Anxiety, Grief Recovery, Inner Child Healing and Past Life Regression. Hypnosis addresses much more than these, and quite often people are in search for my services to simply feel more confident, motivated, inspired, to find their purpose, or the let go of the past, to forgive or to find love. I always share tools and techniques that are simple and practical enough that people can take home and continue the therapy process on their own. A big portion of the hypnosis session is educating my clients about the curious mechanisms of the subconscious mind, so they can understand themselves better, and why we are the way we are. With understanding comes acceptance, with acceptance comes grace, with grace comes change.
Breathwork offers a range of benefits across physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Physically, it improves respiratory function, reduces stress, and enhances the immune system. Mentally and emotionally, it reduces stress and anxiety, increases focus, and facilitates emotional release. The practice contributes to holistic well-being by improving sleep quality, boosting energy levels, and enhancing the mind-body connection. With practical applications in daily life and mental health, breathwork provides a versatile tool for overall health and balance. I teach all of my clients easy breathwork techniques to use at any time when they need to down-regulate their nervous system. It teaches them coping skills, and that they have control over their internal landscape, and therefore in life.
Another modality that I facilitate, and that is becoming quite popular is called KALI – Kundalini Activation Light Integration. This is a direct energy transmission that activates the movement of kundalini energy in the body. It is a purposeful transfer of spiritual energy – some may call it Life Force Energy, some may call it Qi, or Prana, Shakti, etc. This modality is practiced around the world under different names, and has existed for centuries. KALI is typically experienced as a group session, at local yoga studios in San Diego. It is a passive practice and people simply lay down on a mat and simply receive the energy. This practice initiates an inner unfolding of awareness that dissolves blockages, and over time leads to progressively higher states of consciousness, deeper level of understanding of the personal and total human experience. It is a catalyst for transformation. I am continuously fascinated by the way this modality affects people, and leads to change and growth in a very gentle and subtle way.
To each their own – different people are interested in different modalities, but the goal is all the same. We all have the same needs – certainty, acceptance, significance, growth, joy, connection and love.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I believe my best strategy for growing my clientele is simply being myself and sharing with everyone what I do, why I do it, how I do it, and why I am so passionate about it, I am open, honest, and not afraid to be authentic and vulnerable. By being myself, people see me and trust me. I don’t want to sell you anything, just to show you a way out of your own self-imposed prison. I know that this is the way. And I am not here to attract not just Any clientele , that is not my purpose. I want to work with people who are willing to be open, honest and vulnerable. People who are ready to change – it is the only way to move forward with the therapeutic process. I believe that I will help the people I am meant to help – as I am heard and seen. It is the law of attraction. It works for me, because, I don’t need to convince people that they need help. With sharing my stories, and educating them they come to their own simple realization – “Things don’t always have to be this way. I can change.”
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The Biggest Lesson Of All – one that I continue to learn, and that everyone on this planet must face – the belief of ” I am Not Good Enough”, ” I am not deserving of”, ” I don’t do enough” or any other of it’s shapes and forms. It is the reason why we all sabotage our relationships, we do not go after our dreams, why we fail to do enough for our businesses. We simply can not find real, lasting happiness, success, wealth, good health and love. It is a negative belief that humanity as a whole suffers from.
I had to find an internal sense of strength, and allow my goal to become my conviction in order to quit my well-paying job, go to school Again at age 36 to start a new career and become a small business owner.
I could have done this at age 25, when I had my 1st hypnosis session and found myself completely mesmerized by it. However, at age 24, this belief was so strong, that a voice within me said “Don’t even Begin to imagine that you could do that. Do not even entertain the idea that you have what it takes to be a hypnotherapist.”
True story.
It took about 11 years to build a mindset of knowing who I am, what I believe in, what I am here to do, and that damn right – Of Course I am Good enough to do it!
