We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Isvel Rodriguez-nerey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Isvel, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
The idea for my creative services business, Isvel Creative, is rooted in my story—a journey of resilience, determination, and a profound appreciation for freedom and creativity. I escaped Cuba on a raft at a young age, fleeing communism and seeking a new life in the United States. That experience of leaving everything behind and reinventing myself fueled my belief in the power of new beginnings. Every milestone since then has been marked by a desire to tell meaningful stories and connect with people through authentic, impactful, creative work.
As I built my career, working with global brands and renowned agencies like TBWA, Publicis, and Arteza, I began to see the value of my voice in marketing and branding. My projects ranged from iconic campaigns with Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing to shaping Arteza’s brand in the competitive e-commerce space. Along the way, I learned that the best creative solutions come from a mix of cultural understanding, strategic precision, and genuine empathy.
Starting Isvel Creative felt like a natural step toward taking my future into my own hands. I knew I had the skills, experience, and intuition to offer something unique—creativity that is culturally attuned, strategically sound, and, most importantly, emotionally resonant. My success in leading result-oriented campaigns and navigating diverse markets made me confident I could replicate that impact for a broader range of clients.
The logic behind launching Isvel Creative was simple yet profound: I wanted to create a space where I could work closely with brands to craft stories that matter and bridge culture and community. This venture is not only about business but also about making my mark by empowering brands to connect deeply with their audiences. From a business perspective, I knew the market was ripe for an agency with an understanding of global and multicultural insights that would prioritize human connections and authenticity above all.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who haven’t yet met me, my name is Isvel, and my journey into the creative industry is as much a personal story as it is a professional one. I discovered my calling in this field because it blends artistry, storytelling, and strategic thinking—allowing me to make a meaningful impact across cultures and communities.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with top global agencies like TBWA and Publicis, where I developed campaigns for iconic brands like Mercedes-AMG and Ocean Spray. These experiences laid the foundation for my Global Head of Brand Creative and Marketing role at Arteza, where I led successful strategies that elevated brand recognition and fueled substantial growth in a competitive e-commerce landscape. My work has spanned continents—from Europe to Dubai—giving me unique insights into diverse markets and the importance of culturally relevant branding.
Today, I run my own creative services business, Isvel Creative. At Isvel Creative, we specialize in various services, from brand strategy to full-scale 360 marketing campaigns, content creation, and brand storytelling. My team and I excel at helping brands connect deeply with their audiences by crafting emotionally resonating narratives and building strategies that drive tangible results. We solve brand challenges by emphasizing cultural nuance and authentic engagement, positioning brands as bridges between culture and community.
What sets Isvel Creative apart is our emphasis on meaningful storytelling—whether for brands in the art world, wellness industry, or beyond. We’re here to create with intention and impact, blending strategy and soul to make your brand unforgettable.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
At the heart of my creative journey is a profound commitment to elevating diverse communities and highlighting their contributions to the cultural fabric that defines us all. I believe that creativity isn’t just about aesthetics or strategy; it’s about celebrating the rich diversity of voices, experiences, and perspectives that make up our world. This has been a guiding force in my career, and it’s deeply embedded in the mission of my business, Isvel Creative.
My goal is to connect brands with people in a way that goes beyond the surface—creating meaningful connections rooted in understanding, empathy, and purpose. I believe brands have a powerful role in shaping culture, but to do so effectively, they must first understand and appreciate the communities they aim to engage. My passion lies in helping brands become a positive force within communities. These amplifying voices deserve to be heard, and the unique qualities that each culture brings to the table should be celebrated.
Through Isvel Creative, my mission is to build brands that honor their audiences by authentically reflecting their values and aspirations. Purpose-driven work is essential to me because it’s about creating a legacy of respect, empowerment, and inclusion. This approach is not only effective for businesses but also impactful on a human level, fostering a sense of belonging and validation.
Ultimately, my goal is to leave a lasting imprint by creating campaigns and brand stories that resonate across cultures and generations. By putting purpose at the forefront, I aim to help brands find their place within diverse communities, not just as participants but as allies and advocates, enriching the cultural landscape for everyone.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
There are some tools I wish I’d known about earlier in my creative journey—resources that would have significantly improved my workflow and expanded my creative possibilities. As a creative professional, staying agile and connected to the latest technology is crucial, and these tools have quickly become invaluable in our field.
Firstly, platforms like Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma have completely transformed how I approach design collaboration. Figma, in particular, has made real-time collaboration on projects far more seamless, allowing multiple team members or clients to engage with the work directly. I wish I’d had access to Figma sooner, as it would have saved countless hours and simplified the process of sharing and iterating on design concepts.
Canva Pro is another tool I would have loved to have had early on, especially for quickly creating on-brand visual content. Canva has made high-quality design accessible and adaptable for various platforms, which is perfect for rapid social media content development and testing out creative ideas without diving deep into complex design software.
Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects have been essential for content creation and storytelling, but today’s AI-powered resources, like RunwayML, are opening up even more possibilities for video editing, animation, and quickly generating high-quality assets. I’ve found that tools like these can turn big ideas into polished, impactful visuals at an incredible pace, which is essential in fast-moving campaigns.
Lastly, AI-driven tools like ChatGPT and Grammarly are powerful for ideation, copy refinement, and strategy. They’re immensely useful for brainstorming and sharpening messaging. These tools can speed up workflows and offer new perspectives, making staying focused on the creative big picture easier.
Had I known about these resources earlier, I could have streamlined my process and expanded my creative toolkit much sooner, adding more depth and efficiency to my work. Each of these tools, in its way, supports creativity by giving us more time and mental bandwidth to focus on what matters most—the story, the audience, and the impact.
