Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Israel Avila. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Israel , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Right after a session with my therapist. We were talking about me finding something new to do and after the session I started watching my favorite comedian Franco Escamilla. And everything clicked, because I wanted something related with psychology and have fun so that idea of doing comedy was just perfect for me.
So there’s my first time I knew comedy was the way for me to express myself, my culture

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Israel Avila, born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. I’m a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Queer Comidian and host/mc.
I got into Comedy after a session with my therapist as a hobbie and now is my dream job.
I can give a comedy show in either English, Spanish or my favorite, Spanglish, with hosting is the same thing, no need for translators, either a comedy show or hosting any type of event I can do it in both languages.
I’m looking forward to have a community of latinos that can express themselves

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One of my goals is to create a career with my friends and have shows together so we can spend more time doing what we love. Also be somehow the voice of latinos in the US
Promote bilingual comedy and find more bilingual artists

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Connect with people with what I do, and make them laugh hard. After a show I love when people approach to me and say things like “I feel the same” “I understand what you been thru”
People from all latinoamerica together in a show is one of the most beautiful/magic things to see
