Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Isobel Graham. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Isobel, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
We will rebuild is the name of my latest, newest creation. A powerful song that sounds like a war cry from an old celtic movie. It is about getting up and rebuilding no matter how many times your home and your hope may be destroyed. It’s about us reclaiming our sovereignty as one people, the human race and building our homes and communities again how it was before the English Anglo Saxons destroyed communities and before native aboriginal people got forced out of their lands.

Isobel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a 25 year old woman who was born and raised in The New Forest UK but having Irish and Romany Gypsy genetics I’ve always travelled from place to place on my own since 16/18 years old. I just had a really average life before that. Growing up it was just me, my older sister and our single mum working so hard. Which is a big motivation for me to make it in this industry to give my mum everything she never had and to free her from working so hard day in and day out. When I was a kid I was always singing and making up songs and dances with my best friend Tamika. 20 years later Tamika and I are still very close friends! And we both make music. After becoming a teenager I sort of forgot about my natural gifts of singing and writing songs and poems. I went to college to study animal science my other passion. When I left college I didn’t really know what to do I wanted to go on a huge expedition, so I did, I roamed around the Amazon Jungle. I was just volunteering at an animal sanctuary when I found out about a shaman living deeper in the jungle. I convinced two girls to walk through the jungle with me to the Shamans house and from then on everything changed. I had an ayahuasca ceremony with the shaman and the two girls. The longest night of my entire life that would change everything forever. The experience I had was absolutely ground breaking, mind altering and consciousness expanding. When I got back from this trip I was writing lots of songs and poems and melodies would come to me even in dreams. It was as if the energy was free flowing through me. I joined university in 2019 to study environmental science and I would stay up in my room all night recording spiritual rap containing esoteric knowledge about kundalini energy and the chakras while also doing meditation practices to activate my own chakras. Eventhough I’ve been creating music since a child it’s taken me such a long time to build the confidence to share my creations, I’ve only started releasing music online for everyone to hear in the last 3 – 4 years and I only had my first proper live performance in 2022. My songs can be listened to on Spotify, iTunes and most streaming platforms and I get booked to perform at festivals, clubs and gigs but it’s mostly started happening in the last 2 years. Everyone tells me my voice is so unique and powerful I think that sets me apart from other music artists and my energy and the vibe of the music is so unique too. I call it “new wave” because it is like a new wave of spiritual, esoteric, trippy music. I am really proud of myself for overcoming my fears! A few years ago I didn’t even have the ability to go on stage in front of people and perform! It really takes some adapting too. I’m proud of myself for staying true to my own authenticity and not creating music that I know the masses will like instead of creating what feels natural to me and what wants to come out of me. I’m also proud of creating such spiritual/conscious music in a world where “sex” and “drugs” and “being cool” is the main topic in mainstream songs. My music name is LYRAN after the star constellation LYRA which I feel very connected to. I believe the energies from all the stars and planets effect us from up there just as everything effects us from down here.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My main mission is to help people tap into their authenticity and magickal side with my music. Also to empower the females of the world to stand up for themselves and to know they are powerful and amazing eventhough we faced so much surpression in the past and many females still do in different places around the world. Lyrics such as “X chromosome at the centre of 8” and “I’m not a toy, I’m not a plaything, I swallow swords and eat fire I receive all I desire” from my song “8” is designed to tap females into their strength and sovereignty. Lyrics such as “rise your kundalini rise it slowly, take your time and feel the energy” from my song “cosmic wanderer” is to encourage people to get in touch with their cosmic side and take up a spiritual practice like kundalini meditation to feel more energies around them and expand their consciousness to make better choices in everyday life and ultimately live a better more free and magickal life. My main mission is to help people let go of limitations and relax into the freedom you feel when you get in touch with your magickal trippy side. Also to make people aware of a whole other world that exists around us out of the mundane full of colour, vibration and frequency.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is that I feel like I don’t have any pent up energy inside me waiting to burst out because I’m constantly channeling my energy through my songs. It’s my means of talking about anything I wish to discuss with the world or letting any feelings off my chest to the world in my music. It is a really liberating feeling. Especially being up there on stage and releasing it all in front of people but seeing the people in the crowd release their stress and worries while they dance in front of you and get lost in your sound for a while.
