We recently connected with Isea and have shared our conversation below.
Isea, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I’ve been singing since I was 8 years old. It’s always been a deep passion but growing up it wasn’t what made me fully want to dive right into pursuing a creative path. I went to an arts high school in New Jersey and I learned sound engineering and singing at the same time. I was recording myself and other poplin studio settings, overall learning to become self sufficient. During school shows I would run from the booth, where I’d mix the show live, right back down to the stage to go sing and perform. Moments like those made me realize that I truly wanted to pursue a creative career path and do it to the best of my ability.

Isea, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a musician who kicked off this journey when I was 8. Started with poems and later got the hang of playing guitar, mixing words with melodies. Now, I’m all about sharing my stories to people through my music.
I’d describe my music as a throwback to the confident ’90s R&B vibe—straightforward, and unfiltered. I dig into all the not so fun relationship stuff, saying things people might hesitate to put into words.
Last year, I played some insane live shows, and intend to play more this year. Opening for Doechii and Earl Sweatshirt at Terminal 5 for a crowd of 4,000 was a wild ride. Also, scoring a spot on Spotify’s Rap Caviar playlist was a cool moment.
What makes me different? I’m not just about the music; it’s about the raw emotions and experiences I bring on stage. I’m here to fill the gap for genuine stories.
Proud of the strides I’ve made connecting with crowds and turning emotions into shared moments. If you’re into real, relatable music, join me on this journey. It’s all about keeping it genuine and telling the untold.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Oh my god, I love this this question. I think there’s a ton of ways to answer this. The most rewarding aspect oof being an artist has been being able to afford people their feelings, emotions, and thoughts through my music that maybe they couldn’t have put words to otherwise. I will never forget the first time I saw people singing the words to my songs in a crowd. It’s moments like those that I feel like I made a connection and someone can relate. They can scream it at the top of their lungs and relate to every word and maybe even feel as though they’re not alone. Connection is really the reward.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Covid, covid, covid. What a time. There was one day where I sat down with my Mom at the dining room table and said “Okay I can change my major right now, and I’ll go be in audiologist. I don’t have to do music anymore. I can go to a school in NJ and leave NYU”. She looked at me like I was insane and suggested I revisit the thought….rightfully so (shout out mom). This moment was a major pivot in my life because I was really considering dropping everything having to do with music because of pure fear of the unknown. I didn’t know what was going to happen to the world, nobody knew! So my first reaction was to find a “back up” and find a way out. I quickly realized that if I gave up and ran away then, I wasn’t going to make it because I would have never tried. It took that moment to truly pivot to a mindset of all or nothing. I have to give it all I got and watch the hardworking pay off. Fear of the unknown is normal, so so normal. Confidence in one’s self allows for the fear in the unknown to not completely take over your mindset. I had to pivot to a mindset of growth, and confidence.
