We recently connected with Isaiah Miles and have shared our conversation below.
Isaiah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I would have to say my defining moment was the day I gave my life back to Jesus Christ. I started making music in the late summer of 2022. I was starting to write and make little r&b songs with some friends, and we realized it actually wasn’t sounding too bad. I went back to my college in Oklahoma City, and that’s where I met my brother Ty. We dropped two songs on Soundcloud, just for fun. The first was called “Say My Name”, and the second was “4am in Oklahoma City”. We watched those songs skyrocket on Soundcloud to numbers we didn’t expect. By December I told my Dad that this was what I was going to do, my plan was to make secular r&b music. Well..by February I found myself leading worship for my school, slowly falling in love with using my gifts for the Lord rather than for myself. Life hasn’t been the same since the day I stopped running and allowed God to use me for His glory, not mine.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Through various ministries like music, visuals, fashion, and other creative arts, my passion and motivation is to provide a unique, creative pathway for the lost and the found around the world to witness Jesus Christ in a way they’ve never seen before. I think the beauty about the intention behind this is that it’s not for me, or just merely a business i’m trying to run. The goal isn’t for people to find out about what we’re doing and just stop there. The beauty in it is that we want to be the ones to provide the first experiences to the Kingdom and the amazing culture we are all diligently working to create, together. There are so many creative minds that are using their gifts to glorify God and bring lives to Christ in new and fresh ways..and because it’s not about any of us, but for the bigger purpose of eternal life for as many souls as possible, it makes my job pretty easy.
Starting in Tucson, Arizona, we are actively working to provide a ministry for young adults (middle school-college students) that revolves around Christ-centered community and gatherings of praise and worship, prayer, and discipleship. This concept came to me about a year ago while I was in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I got a word from God that i’m so excited to see come to fruition; GenFree. I’m excited because the mission isn’t just to affect my group, GenZ. I came to understand that in order for us to leave our Kingdom mark on the world, we must do it multigenerationally. We’re talking a baby, their siblings, their parents, the grandparents, great, and great greats. ALL of the generations have to be reached in order for us to see generational change. Our ministry isn’t just going to be a “young adult thing”. It’s going to be joined together by men and women of all generations that are committed to God’s plan in Tucson, and in the earth. That is the picture I saw, people of all ages, young and small, all coming together to be the true body of Christ.
Music is the first avenue GenFree has taken. My passion is to create a sound to match the movement we’re about to see. I released my first studio album, Predestined, back in October 2023. I felt like I wasn’t ready, but at the same time I felt like God was telling my brother Ty and I to make this album before the year was over..and we did just that. Now, I’ve had the opportunity to watch this music become anthems for people, and slowly but surely we’re watching God shine his light on what we have to offer. This year could be best described so far as a lyric from our song, “Jaded”, where I say “I looked up to God, he said let’s get to business..dropped an album and forgot it by Christmas”. God has supernaturally put me in positions that I had no expectation for (this article, for example) and I, along with my fellow brothers and sisters that have a passion to see GenFree come to pass..it’s been nothing short of amazing.

Have you ever had to pivot?
There was no possibility in my mind that I would ever be doing what I’m doing today. Just two short years ago, I was living a life with little to no decision-altering, positive influence. I ran from the church and everything that had to do with the church. It wasn’t out of hate, I just couldn’t handle the convictions of what I would hear in the church because of the lifestyle I was living out of it. So I chose to run away and live life my way. All of that running and chasing after things that ended up being vanity in the end, brought me right back to where God planned all along! I went from having no motivation or passion for anything, to giving my choices and my life back to the Lord and He turned my life around and gave me vision to walk out my purpose.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
One hundred percent! I didn’t plan to take this route in life, but i’m so thankful to God that He brought me here. Music has become an outlet for me to best express myself, and He’s giving me the motivation to chase after it. By His will, people who crave something fresh and different musically, will find me along with many other Christian artists that are already shifting the trajectory of music right now. I’m honored to be here to be apart and witness this Kingdom takeover!
