We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Isaiah McCoy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Isaiah below.
Isaiah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
My grandfather is my number 1 hero! Respectfully, I don’t think there has ever lived a greater man, other Jesus lol. My grandfather embodies what it truly means to be a man and hard worker. I always admired his manliness and the way he gave and commanded respect, everyone knew how to approach him. He showed me not only how to work hard, but how to understand the meaning and reward behind it. The biggest lesson I can say I’ve learned from him is, life isn’t going to hand you anything, you have to go out and get it! After years of raising a family and retiring from his job, he didn’t just accept the retired life, he started his own lawnmower repair and sales service right out of his backyard which thrives every summer. In that, he showed me that there is no limit to what you want to accomplish and even when they say you’re done, you don’t have to stop. That lesson alone is why, as an entrepreneur, I don’t believe in just having one source of income or settling for anything less than greatness. He continues to inspire me each and every day. I continue to hope that I can live up to level of man that he is and achieve my own greatness.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I began my journey, back home in Kansas, as just another hobby that could potentially blossom into more. At first, I didn’t think much of it because I knew that the photography market was already very saturated. I didn’t just want to be another guy with a camera and the title photographer, I wanted more! I decided that if I was going to enter into this field, I was going to make sure I stood out. I began dedicating all my time into learning and understanding every aspect of the camera and how to create powerful imagery, Lord knows it was a lot. But once I started to see the growth from where I began, I was flooded with the passion to completely make a business out it.
At Diamond Lens, creativity is the core foundation. I love working with clients who think outside the box and like to be a part of the creative process. A lot of clients have great ideas, but don’t know how to make it come to fruition, and that’s where I step in to help direct and bring it to life. I am most proud of making the move to Houston and seeing all of the growth and accomplishments I have made in a small amount of time. I would like for all of my supporters and future clients to know that Diamond Lens is just getting started here in Houston! Feel free to contact me for all of your needs in photography, videography, events, etc.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I would have to say, word of mouth and social media. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not always that simple, but I do believe those 2 methods have been my best way of meeting gaining new clientele. Sometimes, it’s posting countless ads on many different groups, stories, pages, platforms at certain times of the day. Then there’s times where I go out to different events and social gatherings to hand out cards and communicate with future clients. I honestly prefer the face-to-face interactions with a firm handshake and a genuine conversation, in my opinion that’s better than social media any day. There is no perfect strategy in this field, but it all about how you market yourself and how hard you push your brand.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Many of my clients become friends of the family and brand. We either have each other’s personal phone numbers, follow each other on social media, and sometimes even might go out for a drink. I believe in creating lasting business relationships that can develop into stronger friendships down the line. You never know who you’re going to meet or what your paths can contribute to the others, so I never look at a client as just dollar signs. Most of my clients have been repeat clients and have continued to support me and the brand. To those clients I never hesitate to give big specials and discounts to show my loyalty to them.
