We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Isaiah Hill a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Isaiah, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I used to be an assistant warehouse manager for Amazon. I worked that job for about a year and a half while simultaneously pursuing music and content creation. I hated working a regular job as it was very taxing on my mental and physical health and I knew that it wasn’t what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I found more fulfilment in creating content that inspired and empowered people. One day, I decided to quit my job. It was more like an intuitive nudge that I got. I was anxious, nervous, and afraid of what would happen after quiting my job. Especially since it was how I paid my bills (i.e. rent). I decided to do it anyway and pursue content creation full time. I had even started a business drop-shipping clothes. I made little money from my content and even less from my business, but it didnt stop me. One day, at the end of a 6 hour live stream, I had ended up making the most money I had ever made from streaming at the time. It was about $800 or so and it had come just before it was time for me to pay my rent. In that moment I had learned that it was in-fact possible to make a living from pursuing your dreams and doing what you love to do. It’s just about having faith and knowing that everything will always work out in your favor. Especially when taking intuitive or inspired action on that which calls you.

Isaiah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Like many of you, I am a multi-faceted creator. I’m a father, I paint, write poetry (I’m actually writing my first poetry book/audiobook), make music, and create motivational, inspirational, and educational content. Everything I do, I do it with the purpose of inspiring and empowering others to explore their own gifts and share what they have to offer with the world. I believe that we are all here on a journey of self-discovery and to serve humanity in a way that is positive and fulfilling. I help people see the beauty in themselves and encourage them to embrace the darkness that lies beneath. I help people along their journey of healing and I do that through creatively sharing my own experiences. I’m terrible at selling products, but find great value in helping people. The feeling I get in doing so is priceless.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being able to share something that you’re passionate about with the world, and it be well recieved and appreciated. Being recognized. But the catch is, you have to do it even when you aren’t being well received, appreciated, or recognized.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Mission: To be the very change I wish to see in the world.
