We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Isaiah Evans. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Isaiah below.
Isaiah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I watched my grandmother take my siblings to different projects throughout New Orleans, LA and i wanted to be involved. However opportunities for such a young inspiring actor wasn’t available. Most roles you had to be age 5 and above. When the Winchester came available my grandmother convince the Casting Director to give me a chance along side my sisters.
So my acting journey started at the age 4. Securing my first background role on The Winchester.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My grandmother signed me up with a background casting network to gain experiences. She saw that i was a natural when working with me at home. I love doing dance videos on social media platforms and acting out movies that i enjoyed watching.
The Winchester,” where i ran alongside my twin sisters, Aubree and Brooklyn Majors, on the railroad track. I really enjoyed being filmed and the great treatment i recieved on set as a background actor. This marked the beginning of an incredible journey for me.
As of today I’m going on my third year of experience as a young Actor with over 16 projects. Stemming from Music Videos, Films, Televisions, Commercials and Advertisements.
What make me stand out is i work on my craft daily and i have a great memory when it comes to learning my lines.
I’m excited for my upcoming project:
“Boy Soul Man Heart”
I will be playing the role of 10 year old Mathias Henderson. I audition for this role a week before turning 7 years old. It took one month for me to be notified that i had been selected for the lead. I was proud of myself for competing with older actors for the role. I feel this role will showcase my abilities to contribute to a powerful story.
I work on my craft daily, practicing facial expression along with my lines. The storyline is one that the world will be able to relate too.
The Writer Marie-Eva Volmar provides background about the film on IMDb, which i have added below.
This is a powerful and poignant film “Boy Soul Man Heart,” we follow Mathias as he bravely opens up about his harrowing experiences of being raped and molested 400 times with a support group of female survivors in a community center.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish that public schools would have funding to incorporate free drama/acting classes for elementary school age children. We all have a special talent to share with the world. Sometimes it takes time to developed them.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Shortly after turning 5, I landed a feature role in “Big George Foreman” as the young son, George IV. In this role, i had to prove my ability to take direction effectively and consistently and hit my marks throughout filming. As a young actor your ability to film the same scene 5-10 times can be overwhelming. I learned to focus on the reward i would recieve after filming. Which made it easy for me to stay focus and knowing the word “Action” meant quiet onset and get into your character.
