We recently connected with Isabelle Malebranche and have shared our conversation below.
Isabelle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I’ve worked as a bartender at this time for about 8 years. Coming from a corporate background I sometimes felt like I was going backwards but I went all in. I’ve always worked within the service industry because I am a people person. I love building relationships with people while they break bread with their friends, family and colleagues. I thrive for giving others a memorable experience. It’s my jam.
I started the business during Covid. Not necessarily on paper but I came up with the idea and said I wanted a horse trailer to convert and make it into a bar. I always knew I wanted to start a business but never knew what kind and this one basically fell in my lap. I started doing virtual happy hours, then I did a wedding and clients just kept rolling in. It felt so natural.
At the beginning I separated myself from other mobile bartenders with my set up. I made my own floral background and switched it up per season. It was fabulous. Another thing that differentiated me from others is that I make my everything, down to my cocktail cherries. I don’t like to cook but I do love making simple syrups and I feel my clients taste the difference. I also try to stay in the area of, “if it’s not in season, it’s not on the menu.” I use all the best products to make me stand alone from others. I take pride in all the cocktails I create and I love building menus based on my clients needs.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy for growing my clientele has undoubtedly been through word of mouth. As a mobile bartender, I’ve found that the best way to attract new clients is through the genuine recommendations and positive experiences of those I’ve already had the pleasure of serving. For instance, when I work at private parties, weddings or corporate events, I make it a point to not only provide exceptional service but also to create a memorable experience for each guest. Whether it’s crafting a unique cocktails tailored to their preferences or engaging with guests in a friendly and professional manner, I aim to leave a lasting impression.
Guests often tell their friends and family about the fun and professional atmosphere I bring to their events. One example that stands out was a wedding reception where a guest mentioned to the bride and groom how impressed they were with my ability to mix a variety of cocktails seamlessly and how I kept the energy high throughout the evening. Over time, I’ve noticed that satisfied clients tend to become my biggest promotors, organically expanding my reach within the community.
