Hi Isabella, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
My Journey to Pursuing a Career in Esthetics
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I made one of the most challenging decisions of my life. For years, I had dedicated myself to getting accepted into my dream college, Penn State University—an achievement that required endless hours of hard work, determination, and sacrifice. I additionally attended community college courses during high school which resulted in more than half of an associates degree completed before I graduated high school. When I finally achieved that goal, it felt like a dream come true. Yet, as the pandemic disrupted life as we knew it, I found myself questioning everything I had worked toward.
Instead of continuing on the path I had planned for so long, I chose to take a leap of faith and pursue a career in esthetics, which has been a passion of mine since a very young age. This decision wasn’t made lightly. It meant leaving behind the traditional education system I had always excelled in and entering a completely different world, one where success depended on building a client base and establishing trust. I decided to work alongside my mother at the medical spa she owns and taking a leap of faith into my true passion.
At first, the insecurity was overwhelming. I worried that no one would want to book with me. Questions like, What if I fail? What if I’ve thrown away years of effort? constantly lingered in my mind. But I also knew that I had a strong work ethic and critical thinking skills honed from years of academic success. I channeled those qualities into learning everything I could about skincare and esthetics, mastering my skills, and finding ways to connect with potential clients through being genuine and trust worthy.
Fast forward to today: I am a fully booked esthetician and a beauty influencer with a growing online presence. My platform allows me to inspire and educate others about skincare while sharing my journey becoming the best esthetician that I can be. Looking back, I realize that this risk was less about giving something up and more about redirecting my true passion and energy into something I can make a life long career.
This experience taught me that sometimes, the greatest rewards come from the biggest risks. By betting on myself and embracing the unknown, I’ve built a career that not only fulfills me but also helps others feel confident in their own skin. To anyone standing at a similar crossroads, I would say: trust your instincts, work hard, and don’t be afraid to take that leap.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Isabella Traboscia, a licensed esthetician, laser technician, and beauty content creator.

My focus areas include acne, acne scarring, skin sensitivity, aging skin, and ensuring the skin’s barrier is functioning properly. I pride myself on being genuine and honest, always striving to get to the root cause of my clients’ skin concerns while providing results driven treatments and products. I create treatment plans that put my clients’ best interests first. My main goal is to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget, and to make skincare inclusive for all- whether that is free skincare videos online or in-office treatments; I am dedicated to providing skincare knowledge to everyone. Whether it is luxury skincare or a quick drugstore skincare routine, my social media pages cover it all. I focus on providing evidence-based advice, backed by my own research on skincare and treatments, so my followers can make informed decisions about their skincare routines even if they are not local to me. Whether I’m sharing tips on social media or performing treatments in person, my goal is to help everyone feel confident and beautiful in their skin. After struggling with acne and perioral dermatitis in my teenage years, I spent countless hours researching and trialing skincare remedies. I have been passionate about beauty since a very young girl and never believed that I would be able to make my hobbies and passions a career. However, with hard work and dedication, my dreams became a reality.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your firm or practice?
One of the most effective ways to grow my clientele has been by showcasing real results. There’s nothing more powerful than client transformations, whether it’s clearing up acne, improving skin texture, or helping someone feel more confident in their skin. These transformations not only build trust but also encourage word-of-mouth recommendations from clients who are happy with the results. A satisfied client will always be your best promoter. Additionally, working at a reputable place like Natalie Rose Med Spa has helped tremendously in gaining credibility and trust with clients. People want to know they’re in good hands, and the reputation of where you work speaks volumes. My mother is extremely talented in her craft as a nurse injector, which as tremendously helped. The most important piece of the puzzle, in my opinion, is caring about your existing clients and followers. Engagement is key! It’s not just about getting new clients and viral videos; it’s about treating your existing ones with care, respect, and kindness. Engaging with your online audience and making them feel heard, whether through comments, messages, or helpful skincare tips, is essential. The way you treat people, both in person and online, should reflect the standard you’d want for yourself. When you make people feel valued, they’re more likely to return and recommend you to others. At the end of the day, growing your clientele is a combination of consistency, results, reputation, and genuine care for the people you serve. By focusing on these aspects, you not only build a loyal client base but also create a space where both your clients and followers feel confident in your expertise.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Growing up in a family of hardworking entrepreneurs has shaped me into the go-getter I am today. My grandfather, who has owned his own construction company, Traboscia Co., since he was nineteen, has dedicated his entire life to his business. After more than fifty years of hard work, he’s still fully committed to his company, and his dedication has always inspired me.I also grew up with a young, single mother who worked tirelessly to provide me with a wonderful life. She didn’t stop there—she eventually started her own business, Natalie Rose, with a dream of helping others feel beautiful while also ensuring a comfortable life for our family. Watching my mother build her business from the ground up, alongside my grandfather’s unwavering commitment to his company, has taught me more than any book, essay, podcast, or movie could. Being raised in this environment, I was taught that hard work, determination, and a commitment to your dreams are essential for success. It’s no surprise that today, I strive to embody these same values in my own career. I was raised a “Traboscia,” and the work ethic passed down to me is something I’ll continue to pass on to my son. He, too, will grow up surrounded by hardworking people who dedicate themselves to what they love.
