We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Isabella Siu. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Isabella below.
Isabella, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
After grueling hours and the exhaustion from a long nursing career, I would invite my friends over and usually serve them cheeses, meats and wine. This is how we enjoy our stressful lives and connect with each other. For my 45th birthday, I rented a suite and I wasn’t sure what to serve to my guests so I created a grazing table full of different types of food that would go good with alcohol. It became the talk of the party and for many weeks after. Grazing tables were not popular back then. This was before the pandemic. Before I was a nurse, I was intrigued by owning my own business. My parents were businessowners and I was amazed at what they were able to build. So when my friends said that I could turn this into a business, I thought they are right, I could. So in 2019, Grazingbelles was born. I chose the name Grazing Belles… as an ode to hardworking women all around the world. I wasn’ t trying to solve a problem, I was just following my heart and my instincts and what I was so passionate about which was entertaining and gathering amongst friends. I didn’t know that it was also solving a problem, specifically in Las Vegas, which is the wedding capital of the world. What got me so excited about this idea, is the freedom of expression, creativity, hiring other strong women, collaboration and teamwork which is so vital for any event to succeed, and the look on my client’s faces when they see what we’ve been able to put together. This is very different from Nursing. I knew this was a worthwhile endeavor because people are always going to have a reason to celebrate and gather around food. Grazing tables and this way of serving food has revolutionized the industry and is here to stay for many years to come.

Isabella, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a nurse now for 33 years. My specialty is in Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation. I always wondered if there was something else out there for me. Nursing is all I knew. When I started Grazingbelles, I used a lot of what I learned from being a nurse and I applied it to my business. Customer service, time management, patience, adaptability, leadership and teamwork. These skills are all so important in owning a business. What Grazingbelles adds is creativity, vision and the ability to execute that vision. The problems that I solve for my clients is that I am able to execute the vision they have in mind for the most important day of their lives. There are no do overs. This is it. They have one chance to do it right. So far we have delivered time and time again. Based on our reviews, people really appreciate the job that we do. It takes away the stress from them. Our most popular product is of course our grazing table. Every grazing table and graze platter we make is customized for the type of event and who our customer is and what they want and need. We do not have a cookie cutter style. We are able to adapt to what the customer needs and create a style unique to them. This is what makes Grazingbelles so challenging, satisfying and so different from others out there. Although our style adapts to our client’s need, we are consistent in providing great customer service, we communicate often and always have our customer’s satisfaction in mind.

Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
After the success of Grazingbelles, I was determined to see what else is out there. I saw this power inside of me and the ability to apply the success of Grazingbelles into other avenues. With the help of a few friends, I went back to my roots in nursing and we started a health and wellness clinic, Vital Wellness Las Vegas. We helped many others go on their weight loss journey. I also wrote and published a guide to learn how to own your own Charcuterie Business which is available on Amazon. I’ve helped, inspired, sponsored, mentored other women in starting their own businesses. I realized we are unstoppable, very capable and have infinite opportunities.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson that I had to unlearn is that we don’t have to live in this small world that protected us from everything and everyone. That we are not limited to what we can do and to what is in our small space. Once I saw what I could achieve, the places I was able to go… the whole world opened up for me. Suddenly, I was able to dream the biggest dreams and achieve it, face the most difficult challenges and survive it. Nothing was out of reach. I felt unstoppable. There was no job too big, nothing was impossible, and I learned that we are limitless. The only limitation we have are the ones we give ourselves. That we were the ones getting in our own way of succeeding and fulfilling our life long dreams. If we can believe it… we can achieve it. This was hard from me to learn coming from a very strict, Asian upbringing. As a child, I grew up to be seen not heard. My opinion did not matter. I always had to do what I was told. I wasn’t allowed to express myself, say what was on my mind and do whatever I wanted to do. All this limited me. It made me believe that there was nothing else out there for me. It was a hard lesson to unlearn. But that lesson made me resilient.
