Alright, Isabel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you have any advice regarding quality control and maintaining quality as your brand grows?
When starting this business I really didn’t know what I was doing but had ran a business before but not for myself. Although I had run a business for someone else before, it wasn’t my own. One of the things that was important to me was to do my best and make sure I had a quality product! I always make sure to search high and low for the best and freshest products around. I wanted to make sure it would be affordable yet have the best and delicious boards to offer!

Isabel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello! I am Isabel Bernal, I started this business in 2020 as a hobby, something to keep me busy as I had retired from Child Development and my children were becoming young adults. I have always made boards for our family and friends for entertainment but I had many people ask me to make for their celebrations and then decided to start a small business.
It has been such an awesome experience , meeting so many new people and making friends along the way. One of the things I make sure is to purchase the best quality and freshest products available so people have an awesome experience and enjoy their board! I am always searching for new and delicious products to add to my boards!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy has been to be true to myself and my business. I am a very honest person and will always let you know what we are able to do for you and I always work with my customers to make their boards are cost efficient . I am very friendly and love to talk with my customers to make sure they get what they have in mind! As for marketing I’ve been very lucky and my clients recommend me (word of mouth) so I don’t spend on alot of marketing which really helps keep my costs low. The only marketing I do is social media which is really just posting my boards :) it’s worked for me very well.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One thing that I noticed has been that there is an abundance of charcuterie people popping up everywhere. At first I thought wow, people must think this is easy . People don’t realize that this takes work, I go to many places looking for the best products available for my clients and always make sure I stay true to my brand. The other people I see come and go and they really don’t put in the work, it shows.
