We recently connected with Isabel Benson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Isabel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I knew I needed to take a risk when the current job I was in doing healthcare wasn’t making me feel good or challenged. I knew it was time to switch careers after hearing from several of my peers and friends that I was meant to do bigger and better things and that it would come to me eventually. My girls have always been my greatest motivation to keep reaching for the stars and I started looking for a new job in sales. I knew I’ve always been good with people and had it in me to do good in the sales field so I made it happen and landed a job in sales with a Turf company here in the valley.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into this industry of selling Turf at a company called Turf Hub in Chandler by accident. I knew I wanted to be in sales, but I didn’t realize my resume had gone out through indeed and to this company but I’m so glad it did. We are a big supplying company who sells artificial grass to homeowners and contractors and our products are truly amazing. I’m proud to work there because our Turf is high quality and has reasonable prices. I love helping my clients choose the proper grass for their front or backyard and I’m happy knowing that my contractors are happy to buy and get their product on time as well as having great customer service here at TurfHub whenever they walk into our store.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I feel like the most important strategy for growing your clientele is to be confident in what you sell. You have to know your product and be able to sell it and market it to your client. Be confident and don’t look or sound desperate. Knowing how to read people is so important. I love to listen to my customer and be able to understand what it is that they’re looking for.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would have definitely gone into sales way sooner if I would have had the confidence I do now. I just believe in timing. It wasn’t my time yet. Timing is everything and I don’t think I would have handled the job I have now back then. Gaining experience in my job and building up my resume through the work history I’ve had in my jobs has led me to where I am now. I’m still a work I. Progress and still building and learning about my job and how to get better at sales.
