We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Isaac Session a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Isaac, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?

I am happy as a business owner currently. I enjoy the freedom of taking off of work when I’m ready, more time with family if I choose to, I’m in control of my income, and I enjoy the fact that I can project how I want to grow my business.

There was a point and time when I thought what it would be like to have a regular job. My business had slowed down going into the end of 2022 and I actually had to end up getting a job for a few months until work picked back up. I am making sure that I would never have to work a regular job ever again.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Isaac Session from Jacksonville, Florida. I am 35 years of age, married with two daughters ages 16 and five. I’ve been in the Automotive industry for about 23 years. I’ve always had a passion for cars since I was a kid.

Around 2010 I came up with the name Session Automotive. In 2015 I begin to purchase cars, fix them up and sell them. Fast forward to 2022 I begin to officially operate under the Session Automotive name. Currently the products offered are scratch and chip repair on vehicles. Basically if your vehicle paint is dull, scratched up and chipped up, then we are able to bring it back to life saving you money.

My main customers are car dealerships and I save them money by performing my services to make their vehicles look sellable. I’m the best in the game. Yes there is competition, but they are no comparison to me. My clients tell me all the time I do a great job on the vehicles and how I’m good at what I do. The most difficult part of the job is color matching the cars, but I have a great eye when it comes to getting spot on with the colors.

I would like everyone to know to keep pushing at whatever they do in life. If you put God first in all things, you will be successful in every stage of life. You must also have a vision for your future. Without a vision you are prone to fail.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

One of the best books that continously helps me in management and entrepreneurial thinking anx philosophy is the bible. It has every tool you need in every stage of life you’re in. It has helped me in some dark moments in life and some great moments. I love reading books and some of the great authors are Dr. Myles Munroe, Rick Warren, Daymond John, Dave Ramsey and Kevin Munga

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

One of the lessons I had to unlearn was that you can eat whatever you want and be healthy forever. Growing up I thought that I can eat anything I want and not have any health issues. As I discovered my father was a diabetic, I begin to research things to help reverse his condition. I learned that poor diet and lack of exercise can cause health issues and that I needed to pay more attention to what I eat and how I live.
