Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Isaac Olowogbade. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Isaac, thanks for joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
I grew up in a very traditional African household where respect is very important. My parents thought me a lot about respecting others but even more so about respecting my value above all. That alone has given me more confidence in everything that I do and gotten me more opportunities in life I wouldn’t have not been able to achieve otherwise. Believing in yourself brings out a very attractive trait that not only draws people to you but brings out the best YOU in every situation. I’m so thankful that my mom and pops were able to give that to me very early on in my life.
Isaac, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who may not be familiar with me, I’m a professional saxophonist and artist who found my calling in music at an early age. Growing up, my mother’s eclectic taste in music, combined with the soulful melodies of saxophonist Mike Aremu, ignited my passion for the instrument and the power it holds to transport listeners to different times and places.
My journey into the world of music was fueled by the desire to connect with people and create memorable experiences through my performances. As a saxophonist, I specialize in curating unforgettable atmospheres for various events, particularly wedding cocktail hours and receptions.
What sets me apart in my craft is my ability to not only entertain guests but also to deeply engage them, leaving a lasting impression long after the music ends. Whether performing as a solo act or leading a full band ranging from a trio to a 12-piece ensemble, I strive to captivate audiences with my soulful renditions and improvisations.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of touring prestigious venues such as Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, and being flown out to perform in different states across the US. The feedback from my clients speaks volumes, with all five-star reviews on Google highlighting the impact of my performances on their events.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to embark on a tour with my brother as part of the group Plugnsessions, taking our music to California, New York, Cape Town, Nigeria, England, and Texas in 2024. Additionally, I host annual events like LOL (Language of Love) on Valentine’s Day and Jazz Days of Christmas, where I collaborate with fellow musicians to bring the magic of music to seasonal celebrations.
Ultimately, my main objective is to share my passion and gift with the world, believing wholeheartedly in the transformative power of music to inspire, uplift, and unite audiences across cultures and backgrounds. Through every performance, I aim to leave a lasting impression and create moments that resonate deeply with each listener.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Severals years ago in 2014, while i was helping someone stranded on the road, i was run over by a drunk driver. The person also hit my car in the process and destroyed my saxophone. This was right before an annual church convention in dallas tx. I was a really tryin time for me becaues i was in ICU onlife support, but i made it throuh and one of the first things i wanted to do was get back to my music. That really solidified how passionate and i was about sharing my gift with the world while i still can.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Acutally seeing kids telling me they want to play like me and hearing testimonies from several parents when i minister and different church how their children constantly brings me up and want to learn the craft has been the most rewardingl
