We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Isaac Guerra. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Isaac below.
Isaac, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Everybody wants to be something when they grow up. In grade school usually teachers would ask and tons of kids would shout out amazing careers and life paths. Firefighters, Doctors, and architects all around; When the question came to me I always had a straight answer. I wanted to grow up and be like my mom. A nurses assistant, an artist, and the Karaoke queen. Sure most of those were jobs but I believed her career path was being a bright shine of light and a pure soul that can genuinely make anyone’s day happy. Her persistence, head strong attitude, and unmatched confidence made me the man I am today. Being both mother and father she did everything right without hiccup to her step. Truly an amazing person, a fighter, and I can’t imagine where I would be without her by my side.
Isaac, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Starting at age 15 actively pursuing a drum career was all I was hyper focused on. The precise discipline to practice 3-6 hours a day was vigorous routine that didn’t stop until I moved to Seattle at age 19. 6 years later in the midst of re vamping the Gravities Collaboration I became a business owner and took the band to a whole new level. What sets us apart from every other group is our dedication to our craft and having a notion that gets you moovin’ and keeps you groovin’. Surely a powerhouse act you never want to miss out on.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Everyone has a couple big moments in life where a drastic change happens that ultimately puts a few things in perspective. Mine occurred when I lived in the Pacific Northwest at 22 years old. Re vamping the collaboration in an unknown area was pretty intimidating to say the least and after a 2 years of consistent studio work, live shows, and hosting events i came to the realization that this must be done back in my home town.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The best moment that showcases how resilient we are as a unit is during our residency shows at Novo Brewery. Having the crew showcase our hard work every Thursday forced us to own up to learning new and engaging material.
