Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Isa Marie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Isa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
Before I became a business owner, I had an amazing job at a local cakery in Midtown Detroit. It was small & independently-owned, but now it’s grown so much! When I worked there, I got to grow a relationship with the owner. I noticed how she handled the cakery when she came in and how she responded to certain situations. I took mental notes of her strategy and really admired how she carried the business. She was always calm, resilient, and most importantly, always had faith, even if things didn’t go as planned for the cakery. Working there for over a year taught me a great deal about business through hands-on experience. And to me, this was the most valuable experience that helped me grow as a business owner after I parted ways with the job due to moving to a new state. I always knew I wanted to have my own business, so when I started my UGC business, I remembered the key actions and mindset that my old boss did to grow her cakery, and I really thank her for having me there and teaching me so many things!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
If you haven’t read about me before, my name is Isa Marie, and I am a full-time UGC creator/content creator / paid ads specialist. I’ve been doing UGC for almost 3 years now and went full-time in May 2024. I dropped out of 2 different universities in Michigan, and for a long time, I felt stuck in life. But I always knew I wanted to do something great and make a name for myself. I always loved creating content in school (it wasn’t labeled as that just because I liked to make silly musicallys and funny YouTube videos), but I grew up making at-home movies just for the fun of it. After I dropped out, I heard about UGC all over social media and it intrigued me since I always loved creating content with my favorite products. Plus, you didn’t need to have a large following to be a paid UGC creator, which made the entry easier. I took the leap and started out as cringey, but I knew I wanted to do this. The journey isn’t always easy, but I didn’t give up. I stayed consistent and grew my UGC business to now working with top brands like Amazon, Motion, Buff City Soap, Roblox, Bumble Dating, and Opill for UGC. It’s so crazy to think about how these big brands hired and trusted me with their content needs. I leaned more into paid ads since my videos have driven significant results for the brands I worked with and I have a keen sense when it comes to creating ads that convert and drive loyal customers. Aside from UGC, I also help other UGC creators online scale their business with my digital products that I offer through my social media channels. I help my clients fill the gap between their potential customers and why people should trust them through high-quality UGC. With my unique personality, style, and storytelling in my content, this has helped me stand out from the rest. I specifically go out of my way to figure out my clients’ pain points. I’m super proud of how far I’ve made it in my business, and I would love for everyone to know that I take pride in what I do and I deliver only the best service. I am a great asset to my clients, and I’m super grateful to have strong relationships with them.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
My UGC business started as a side hustle after I dropped out of college. I moved to a different state to start over and knew I wanted to pursue the UGC dream I had. While it was my side hustle, I was a barista at a local coffee shop in Indiana. I liked the job, but knew it would be a dead end for me. So while I was working there, I was building myself up and learning UGC. That carried on for about 8 months, then I decided to move back to my home state since one of my family members just bought a big house and wanted me to come stay with them. I agreed, but then I realized that I had to quit the barista job I had. When I moved back, I realized that I could go all-in with UGC, so that’s what I did. I didn’t look back or apply to any jobs, but was now doing UGC full-time. It was scary at first because I knew I needed to hustle and get better at what I do to make it a lucrative, full-time career. But with faith, confidence, consistency, and resilience, I was able to scale, and I believe being kept on my toes like that made me work extra hard. I am super grateful for the journey.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Building my reputation in the UGC industry meant constantly putting myself out there and continuously learning. That meant posting on every social media platform there is and being consistent with daily posting, which is what I did and still do. I never missed a day when it came to posting on Instagram, TikTok, and X. Posting my UGC examples constantly helped me attract inbounds and new clients. As time went by, I kept posting and posting, which led me to grow my clientele and gain trust with my new followers. Then, I started posting tips and expert advice, which helped me quickly scale my reputation and presence. There are a lot of things I had to learn, though, like not complaining on social media and making sure my image was intact with who I wanted to be and the clients I wanted to attract.
