We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Iris Abreu. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Iris below.
Iris, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Turning my idea of being a business owner into reality involved a series of strategic steps. I began with creating a vision board that reflected all the little milestones that must take place in order to achieve bigger and smarter decisions. I then did research to understand my target audience and the competitive landscape. I then created a detailed business plan outlining my vision, goals, and self expectations. Networking with other professionals in the beauty industry and leveraging social media played a significant role in gaining visibility. Each of these steps was essential in transforming my entrepreneurial vision into a successful business venture.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When I first had the vision of bringing LNA Beauty Bar to life, it was for the sole purpose to work for myself and to give my family the freedom of flexibility. So the vision was simple. Just perfect lash artistry and offer the services and a schedule that is flexible for my family. Throughout my time learning and perfecting my craft I grew a love for the business education aspect of being a business owner. My corporate America background was accounting in the legal sector along with accounting in the nonprofit sector so I gained knowledge that I believe is a must in owning a business. Knowing I poses this knowledge is why I created the business mentorship program on three different tiers for new and existing entrepreneurs. Giving back and growing within the industry of beauty professionals has also become a love of mines.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I utilized my personal savings to provide the necessary capital to establish my business. This strategic investment allowed me to lay a strong foundation, ensuring the resources needed for a successful launch and sustainable growth. I decided to go this route solely because this financial commitment underscores the dedication and confidence in the potential success of my venture.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Authenticity has been the cornerstone of my success and reputation in the beauty industry. From the very beginning, I have strived to be genuine and transparent in every aspect of business, from the products used and recommended, to the services provided. This has helped me gain and keep the trust of my clients which in turn helped and continues to help in building genuine relationships. Authenticity is not just a value I uphold, it is a unwavering dedication to my clients.
