Irianna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
As a business owner, I am pleased with my career choice. While some entrepreneurs may dream of a 9-to-5 job, I don’t because I already work those hours. In a previous article with ShoutoutHTX, I mentioned obtaining my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Prairie View A&M University in 2022. I am currently employed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where I plan to continue growing until I pursue a law degree and become an attorney. Before launching my business, I had established career objectives, and I am committed to expanding my business while still achieving the goals I have set for myself. I choose to work because my financial responsibilities and aspiring career goals must be fulfilled.
Irianna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, my name is Irianna Keith, and I am the owner of Irie’s Teaching Binders LLC, a company that specializes in creating personalized learning tools for children. The name ‘Irie’ originated from a childhood nickname. I utilized this nickname to create a unique name for my business. Our mission is to design and manufacture learning tools that cater to all children learning needs, with the goal of accelerating their educational development. Our customers particularly enjoy our customized teaching binders, which are tailored to meet the specific requirements of the child. While each binder is customized differently, they all contain Affirmations, the 7 Fruits of the Spirit, Prayers, and the 10th Commandments. These components are non-negotiable and cannot be removed from the binder. We have recently launched our new product, the cursive teaching binder and booklet, specifically designed for children.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
To build my clientele, I have found success in actively promoting my small business. This includes participating in pop-up shops, collaborating with other businesses, and utilizing social media platforms to reach an audience. Social media marketing plays an important role in today’s society, I have been able to reach a broader audience and attract many customers through consistent posting and content creation. Despite the varying number of customers, I remain committed to posting about my business daily, while trusting in God’s plan and the timing of when he sends the right customers.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I will be transparent and honest finding the right audience is difficult. I’m still building my social media audience as a business owner, and this is the hardest part for me. My target audience is parents, teachers, educators, and anyone interested in education for my learning-based business. Despite the challenge, I trust God with the plan and continue to show up and put in the effort. My advice to others is to keep posting your brand, as someone is always watching and could be a potential customer.
