Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Irfan Shaukat. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Irfan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I am a self-taught photographer and had a lot of inspiration growing up. I was a big fan of car magazines and was always mesmerized by the way cars were photographed. Initially, I started shooting with cars back in 2011, soon that had become a hobby and I started experimenting with other subjects. I believe this learning curve was a challenge from getting my first client to expanding my portfolio. The only thing I could say is if I had better tools like the latest camera and computer for post-processing my photography work, I would’ve had a better portfolio a lot faster than what I have right now, no regrets whatsoever.
Irfan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am currently doing all sorts of photography. From paid clients to collaborative projects, I just love doing what I do. Together with Photography, I provide Videography and dronography services. My other least common services are photobooth, 360 video booth, and live wedding coverage.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to capture moments that evoke strong emotions in viewers. Whether it’s joy, wonder, or even a touch of melancholy, I want my photographs to resonate with people on a deeper level.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I started my Social media pages on Instagram and Facebook in 2011. My first followers were my friends and relatives, I used to post random photography works that I would do in my free time and would ask for feedback from my limited initial followers. After a couple of years, I joined some local photography groups to learn more about photography and to expand my social network by following more photographers. As the time passed, I continued to learn and took the criticism seriously. My advice to new talents who are looking to make a social media page is to always be open to experimenting and taking criticism positively, and focusing on quality and not quantity.
