Hi Irfan, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Learning is the essence of life; when one ceases to learn, they halt their very existence. The art of learning is akin to nurturing a garden – a process of continual growth. Acting, in its origin, springs from the realm of a child’s play. Every child is inherently drawn to learning, exploring the world around them. It’s crucial to create an environment that fosters this natural curiosity and growth. Instead of imposing opinions, gentle guidance towards refinement is essential, coupled with patience, encouragement, and a touch of playfulness.
Children, in their unfiltered honesty, represent the purest form of actors. They naturally convey emotions without artifice or manipulation. Craft, in this context, is the presentation aspect, involving the execution of tasks with finesse and grace. It’s the ingredient that renders things presentable, turning raw elements into a polished, refined form.learning a craft involves a journey of acquiring skills and mastering techniques .It’s a process that encompasses continuous exploration, practice, and refinement to enhance one’s abilities and proficiency within that craft.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Actor knows the truth, and happily dies. Acting is not just a profession; it is a way of life. It is a means to explore the depths of human emotions and experiences. As Osho, the renowned spiritual teacher, once said, “Live your life as if you are acting and act as if you are living life.” This profound statement holds a deep truth about the nature of our existence.
When an actor steps onto the stage or in front of the camera, they become a vessel for the character they are portraying. They delve into the depths of their own being to bring forth the essence of another person. In this process, they tap into the universal truths that connect us all. They become a mirror, reflecting the soul of the character they are portraying.
In contrast, in our everyday lives, we often get caught up in the mind’s chatter. We become identified with our thoughts, emotions, and external circumstances. We forget that we are not just the characters we play in our own lives. We are so much more than that. We are the actors, the directors, and the audience all at once.
By embracing the mindset of an actor, we can step back from the drama of our lives and gain a new perspective. We can see that life is just a play, and we are merely playing our parts. This realization brings a sense of freedom and detachment. We can fully engage in the experiences of life, knowing that they are temporary and ever-changing.
When an actor knows the truth, they can happily die. They can let go of their attachment to the character they have portrayed and move on to the next role. Similarly, when we embrace the truth of our existence, we can let go of our attachments and fears. We can live fully in the present moment, knowing that life is just a play, and we are the actors.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
As an actor, your options are limited. You can’t portray every character out there. Factors like age, gender, race, ethnicity, language, and dialect may not align with your abilities. Personally, I was completely absorbed in acting, delving into the reasons, motives, logic, goals, and purpose behind every action. It was as if I was searching for my true self through the art of acting, and in that quest, I discovered all the answers I sought. The journey is boundless and so immense that it’s nearly impossible to capture in just a few paragraphs. It’s like embarking on an internal and external expedition, exploring the intellectual, psychological, physiological, biological, artistic, futuristic, and spiritual aspects of investigation. Life is incredibly intricate, with countless known and unknown reasons why people approach the same things differently. It’s an ongoing voyage of discovery. This journey was so captivating that I became completely engrossed in it, forgetting to live life for myself. It became a universal journey, one that I wanted to share with present and future generations. I aimed to encapsulate all my learnings and investigations, encompassing emotional, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of knowledge and understanding, as well as hints about the unknowable, into a system called Actorism. This system would benefit others and guide them in their own journeys. It all began with acting as an art form, but along the way, it transformed into Actorism, a way of navigating through life itself. It’s about how to truly live life, finding solutions, aspiring for excellence, and uncovering the motives, goals, and purpose of life through this extraordinary expedition.
It’s like progressing from limited possibilities to boundless ones. From self-centeredness to selflessness. Discovering solutions amidst challenges, exploring how acting can be a meditative practice, and how meditative methods can aid actors. Actorism is a training module that focuses on character development and role creation, incorporating scientific, intellectual, artistic,and spiritual aspects.
My mission for Actorism is to extend this extraordinary gift not only to actors but also to individuals hailing from disadvantaged backgrounds and challenging circumstances, who are unable to afford it. I aim to assist them in their journey through life, seeking out hidden talents within them and empowering them to achieve success in both their artistic and spiritual endeavors. Together, we will embark on a transformative path, enabling them to not only find personal triumph but also to inspire others to attain success, love, and serenity.
