We recently connected with Iqra and have shared our conversation below.
Iqra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always been a dreamer ,but more importantly, someone with a “will-do” mindset. Ever since I was a child, I had this drive to create, to contribute, and to earn my own way. I earned my first income at the age of 12 as a henna tattoo artist, designing intricate bridal henna. By 17, I had developed a passion for sewing , it started as something I did just for fun, making dresses for myself and my sisters. But soon enough, people began noticing my work and started asking me to sew for them. I never said no. Not just because I was getting paid well, but because I genuinely enjoyed it.
By the time I was in 12th grade, I was juggling full-time college, henna appointments, sewing orders, and tutoring children in my community. Most of my clients came through word of mouth , they experienced the quality of my work and kept coming back. It gave me a real sense of pride and purpose.
In 2015, I got married and moved to the United States. Starting over as an immigrant was challenging; I was building a new life and a family and navigating a new culture. I wanted to continue my education but couldn’t right away, so I started exploring other ways to grow. I enrolled in online digital marketing courses and even tried affiliate marketing. I kept learning, experimenting, and planning, always holding on to that entrepreneurial spark.
Eight years went by in a blur of raising kids, learning new skills, and dreaming big. In 2023, when my children finally started school, I saw my opportunity. I enrolled in an IT program, earned certifications, and landed an amazing job in the tech field. That same month, I made the decision to go back to school and finish my degree, not just for me, but to show my children what perseverance looks like.
This journey, from henna designs at 12 to launching a digital agency, wasn’t born overnight. It was built over years of learning, doing, and adapting. What excites me most about my business today is that it combines all my skills: creativity, tech, marketing, and a deep understanding of what it means to start from scratch and build something meaningful.
I was actively exploring business opportunities when a conversation with my sister sparked something special. She works in the marketing industry, and during one of our chats, she said, “What if we combined our skills and started a digital solutions business together?” It instantly clicked.
We realized we had a perfect blend of strengths: her marketing expertise, design sense, and customer service background and my creativity, design sense, and IT skills. It felt like the ideal foundation for something meaningful. So we decided to go for it, and that’s how our team was born.
Since then, our team has continued to grow, and so has our passion for what we do. What excites us the most is the opportunity to use both creative thinking and technical skills to help small businesses and entrepreneurs bring their vision to life, especially through social media. Whether it’s branding, content, or visual storytelling, we love being part of their journey and seeing them shine online.

My name is Iqra Hina, and I’m the founder of RankRocket, a digital solutions and on-demand IT support agency focused on helping small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs grow their digital presence with confidence and clarity.
My journey into this field has been anything but linear and that’s what makes it meaningful. I’ve always had a creative mind and an entrepreneurial spirit. I started earning my own income at the age of 12 as a henna artist, then expanded into sewing, tutoring, and eventually started my career in IT all while balancing college and family life.
After moving to the U.S. in 2015, I dove into self-education,learning digital marketing, affiliate marketing, and IT , all while raising my kids and figuring out how to build a career from scratch. Around that time, I partnered with my sister, who has a strong background in marketing and customer service. We realized that by combining her industry knowledge with my design, technical, and creative skills, we could offer something unique, a digital service that’s not only technically sound but also deeply human-centered.

From doing henna designs in my teens to becoming a full-time tech professional and now an entrepreneur, the journey has been anything but ordinary.
But what makes me most proud is what we’re building with RankRocket. Every time a client says, “This finally makes sense,” or “I feel confident moving forward,” it reaffirms why we started this in the first place. It’s about more than just solving problems , it’s about empowering people and helping them believe in their own potential.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life came when I left my home country and moved to the United States. It was a life changing decision, one I made without fully knowing what lay ahead. I had dreams and plans for what I wanted to pursue, but I wasn’t sure if I would have the support or resources to make it happen. On top of that, I faced a new culture, a new language, and the reality of starting completely from scratch.
During the first couple of years, I realized that I had to be patient and wait for the right time to pursue my bigger goals. But I didn’t want to let that time go to waste. So instead of standing still, I redirected my energy into learning. I enrolled in online courses in digital marketing and IT, hoping they would eventually help me carve out a path forward.
Looking back now, I’m incredibly proud that I made that choice. The knowledge and skills I gained during that uncertain time laid the foundation for everything I’m doing today. I’ve always considered myself a lifelong learner, and that period of my life reminded me that even when things feel uncertain, growth is still possible, and sometimes, that growth becomes the very thing that shapes your future.
Any advice for managing a team?
Managing a team isn’t just about assigning tasks, it’s about creating an environment where people feel seen, valued, and supported. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that communication and empathy are everything. Every team member brings their own strengths, challenges, skills, and goals, and when you take the time to really understand that, you build genuine trust.
I believe in leading with honesty, flexibility, and appreciation. Since most of my team works remotely, I prioritize flexibility so they can manage their work in a way that fits their lives. We have daily calls to go over strategies, celebrate small wins, and check in with each other ,whether it’s tackling a work issue or just being there when someone’s having a rough day.
I always encourage collaboration and make sure every voice is heard, because every opinion truly matters. When people feel like their contributions count, they become more engaged and motivated.At the end of the day, a high-performing team is one that feels connected, not just to the work, but to one another. When you build a culture of safety, respect, and inspiration, success naturally follows.
